Q:
A USA 666 is stacked with a 7-0. They receive enemy fire, leader dies and MMC breaks (morale 8). Does it have to pass a LLMC? why or why not? In other words, when do you compare leader and MMC morale level, before or after resolving the attack?
A:
No LLMC needed.

I believe the answer to the "Why not?" part of your question is found in 3.2.2 under NMC:

Furthermore, if a leader is eliminated, all units with a lower current morale level stacked with him and not in CC must take a NMC after resolving the initial attack, with any negative leadership DRM added to the DR rather than subtracted from it. This is a Leader Loss Morale Check (LLMC).

Since the morale of the broken 6-6-6 is now (currently) 8, and therefore not lower than the now eliminated leader at the time of the LLMC, no NMC is necessary.
