Are any of these superstitions?

I don't think I have any, but I have a few habits:

  1. Rotate infantry units that have moved (so it's clear they have moved).
  2. 1 on the Sniper aligns with the grid coordinate.
  3. Use different dice from my opponent. After a roll, pick them up and put them in plain view of both players.
  4. The coloured die often matches the nationality I have (blue if it's germans/French/finns), green
for us/allied minors/axis minors, etc. Not really a superstition as I have not done it every time and
felt fine about that.

Use my dice, I swear I’ll do time ...

Didn’t realise I was OCD about my dice until Craig picked them up during a game and started using them. Completely threw my game - not that he needed any help in beating me ?

Two weeks ago Me and Tommy played Mudge and Trent Dobbs in to the last man, keeping the tradition alive. Lots of trash talk and our Russians won.
Yes, colored dice must match nationality.
Finally, usually better luck to roll fast but leave the dice lay.
The Russian artillery put the Russians over the top. One 120 mm FFE blast lit the big factory on fire and it spread to their crucial tunnel location, isolating two positions and ruining two tunnels. The other was a lucky scatter perfectly placing a FFE1 directly in the center of the middle (kinda circular) factory. The fun part was when Tommy’s tanks broke through to surround and support my stalled factory attack.

As far a superstition goes don’t shake the dice in your hand for like 2 minutes for every moral check saying “Come on baby!“ unless it’s the last die roll of a game.

Casino dice have the sharp edges. Backgammon are Ball-cornered. Backgammon dice; don't leave home without them. -- jim
According to the Google round cornered dice are not truly random which is why casino dice have sharp corners. Professor Talo has not offered an opinion on this as of yet. He is still cavorting with Captain Bacchus I believe. ?

I asked myself the same question after most of the responses so far.

I honestly don't think I have any, no lucky dice, or pre-game rituals or belief any of that would help. If I actually thought it would help my dismal win-loss record, I probably would adopt one or two....

I would not say I was superstitious but I am a little stitious....

I believe my German, Russian British and US battledice roll well for me but my Finnish ones hate me with the fury of a midwinter blizzard.

I believe that is you don't say "helmet-on-a-stick" as you remove a dummy stack, there is something seriously wrong with you.

Sometimes I think random number generators hate me.

The worst example of this was playing Magnus at Double One. Three Russian tanks roll up on a crest and each takes MA shots to gain aquisition. I rolled three double sixes in a row?.

That was using a dice cup, dice tower and my own backgammon precision dice. I still use the dice but told them if they do that to me again I have a vice in the garage and will not hesitate to use it on them.................which appears to have worked:).

I have only ever "abused" my dice once. I was playing an ASL game (I think a play test even and I was winning of all things) and I had a string of bad rolls. I don't even remember the rolls or the outcome, all I remember is picking up the dice, looking over my shoulder, and tossing the dice from my right hand over my left shoulder. Then the laughter from those behind me. Being embarrassed, I went to collect my dice off the floor and of course, they landed 1,1. Fuck dice. I hate them. :) -- jim

Jim, this reminds me of a memory from when I was a kid, playing Risk with my dad and maybe others. After rolling a bunch of 1s over and over and over he finally picked up all 3 dice and threw them across the room. The problem was we were in the middle of a renovation and there was no drywall! The dice pierced the foil covering of the insulation in the walls and disappeared. Took us a while to dig them out of the fiberglass insulation!

Hah, you greenhorn!

I did that in a row for a Pz IV for the MA, the CMG, and the BMG in a single fire phase. But I added a 6 for the subsequent Repair dr in the next Rally Phase. The tank bogged, then mired, then immobilized when attempting to reach the friendly board edge. When the crew finally got out, it was killed by a Sniper.

So it was said. But it might have been its platoon commander.

Could be that the scenario was named "Insult to Injury", but I have more or less successfully suppressed the memory.
