The preparations for the 2023 Edition of the Scandinavian Open are under way – and the first players have already stated their intention to participate. The tournament will again be held at Danhostel Ishøj, the location that served us so well in 2021 and 2022. Book your flights early - we've been told that they are quite inexpensive at the moment.

The dates of the main event will be March 3-5 2023.

There will be friendly gaming Wednesday/Thursday March 1-2 leading up to the classic 5 round ASO main tournament starting friday running through sunday. The friendly gaming Wednesday and Thursday will take place at the same venue as the main tournament, so you can see it as a chance to warm up for the main tournament or just a chance to play some new opponents in a friendly atmosphere.

Contact Michael Hastrup-Leth (hastrupleth@gmail.com) or Bo Siemsen (bo.siemsen@gmail.com) for registration and a specific price for your stay. We are currently discussion and reviewing ways to enhance the tournament further with regards to tournament play as well as accommodations. We welcome input.

Updates with regards to registered players, scenarios, ABS etc. will be made available on our website leading up to the tournament. Updates will also be announced in the Gamesquad forums in this thread.

This may have been already discussed, but these are the exact dates of the Blackpool Heroes tournament.

Rich,

I have given up complaining about this to the TD’s. They don’t care on either side of the North Sea (sorry to be so blunt about it, but there are 12 weekends in the first quarter to choose from and no other European tournaments during that period). I used to ask them each year to please contact their counterpart to coordinate, but they do not do it.

That said, you, I and Jim Bishop are probably the only three individuals in the world who do care.

My advice - don't take any luggage if you're flying:

Joe - good point. This particular mess is not the fault of SAS I believe, but non-Scandinavian potential travelers to ASL Scandinavian Open should be aware that SAS has filed for Chapter 11 and although the risk of an immediate shut-down is minimal, the next 6-12 months will be very "interesting". I just hope my "ASLOK-ticket" is still usable in October.

Good luck Magnus.

Covid has certainly made things interesting for the travel industry- my DFDS ferry ticket to France that I purchased in 2019 I used this year.

There were no foot passengers allowed on the ferry. The customers who wanted to travel by foot were forced to bring a bicycle. I talked to two people on the ferry who had brought folding bikes to get round this requirement.

Captain Bacchus and I were wondering if there was a way to meld the two events through the internet. I know players attend events for the ftf play so most probably wouldn't be willing to do VASL or something similar but it is an option.

The positive aspect of conflicting dates for ASL events is that ASL events are happening. That is the important thing. Good luck and good gunnin to all who attend these fine events. Special thanks to the organizers.

We have tried to move the dates for Scandinavian Open 2023 tournament, but it wasn't possible due to other events pre-booked at the hostel.
I hope for better luck in 2024, but I will of course select the local event over the "overseas" (North Sea) event

The PDF Scenario Pack for ASO 2023 is now ready to be sent out.
Participants can email me if they need the pack and I will send it to them in short order.

Email me at:
bo.siemsen@gmail.com

It is highly likely that there will be further ASO SSR's (minor scenario adjustments) to a couple of scenarios. Michael is in charge of that. When that has been decided it will be announced here and at our website.

Please note Buser's question to HazMo28 in the Rules section of Gamesquad. I am sure we are not the only two confused by the Victory Conditions.

Just got this from Chuck Hammond regarding HazMo28 "Righteous Red Scythe"
This is now on the HazMo homepages Q&A section;
Hazmo28 (“Righteous Red Scythe”) Is the Dry Stream treated as a Gully (as per 20.41) or a Stream (as per B33.11)?
"The Dry Stream is treated as a Gully. Hence, the portion of the Dry Stream that contains Woods is treated as a Gully-Woods hex (see B19.4)."
Thanks to Chuck and Jim Bishop
