The preparations for the 2019 Edition of the Scandinavian Open are well under way – and the first players have already stated their intention to participate. This will be our 22nd Tournament in Copenhagen. The tournament will again be held at Danhostel Amager, the location that has served us so well in recent years.

We will continue the extended format that we introduced in 2016. The Tournament will once again be a 5 day event with Friendly gaming Wednesday and Thursday and the classic 5 round ASO main tournament starting friday running through sunday. There will also be mini tournaments Saturday and Sunday. The friendly gaming Wednesday and Thursday will take place at the same venue as the main tournament, so you can see it as a chance to warm up for the main tournament or just a chance to play some new opponents in a friendly atmosphere.

Leading up to ASO 2019 we have reviewed and updated our tournament rules. We have clarified the Tournament Special Rules and we have also updated the rules regarding “judging” scenarios. But hopefully that won’t be necessary :)

We have negotiated a good price with our Tournament Venue and the prices will more or less the same as in 2018. Please visit our website and find the exact prices for your stay [under when & where].

Contact Michael Hastrup-Leth (hastrupleth@gmail.com) or Bo Siemsen (bo.siemsen@gmail.com) for registration and a specific price for your stay.

Updates with regards to registered players, scenarios, ABS etc. will be made available on our website leading up to the tournament. Updates will also be announced in the Gamesquad forums in this thread.

See you in Copenhagen

odd, you are given prizes by LC, BFP and LFT but yet you have no scenarios by them on your list. Why is that?

Ah, now we know where the "surprise" round scenarios probably come from.

ASO 2019 has been completed.

The tournament directors would like to thank everyone who participated and helped make this yet another successful and thoroughly enjoyable edition of Scandinavian Open. This was the 21st edition of ASL Scandinavian Open.

ASO 2019 had a 33 player main tournament and 3 minitournaments and a handful of friendly game players. All in all over 40 players played ASL over the weekend and counting visits from the danish ASL community there was close to 50 ASL’ers gathered in Danhostel Amager over the past 5 days.

This years Main event was won by Rich Domovich who defeated Arnaud Sanchis in the final game. Rich and Arnaud were “smashing the hook” and despite Arnaud’s best efforts he couldn’t quite force the stubborn Japanese away from the final roadblock. Rich also defeated the defending champion Kenneth Knudsen along the way. A well deserved win for Rich.

Rich becomes the 9th player to win ASO 2019 and the first non-european winner. Congratulations !

The mini tournaments were won by

Jesper Led (Denmark) – Best of ASO 2019 MINI
Derek Ward (Denmark) – Korea MINI
Ran Shiloah (Israel) – “Winter Offensive 10” MINI

No correlation between sponsors and scenarios chosen. Lone Canuck, Bounding Fire Productions and Le Franc Tireur generously supported our tournament by donating products and gift certificates that we could use as prizes to the winners. There is no quid pro quo. They dont ask for it and we dont offer it.
