Buy. . .Schwerpunkt's Rally Roint #1 with 8 scenarios for AOO and you won't be underwhelmed any more.
I think this had 10 scenarios. Let Evan know if your a missing a scenario card.

Buy HoB's Recon By Fire #3 with 24 scenarios for AOO and Schwerpunkt's Rally Roint #1 with 8 scenarios for AOO and you won't be underwhelmed any more. Hungarians versus Romanians is just too cool.
24 scenarios, but how many well-playtested?

AOO was great to finally see and J7 had the best set of scenarios for ages.

I picked up both of Paul Kenny's packs and there are a lot of intersting looking scenarios in there. I care a bit less about balance than I used to.

CH's Berlin module is very nice. The errata is pretty minor. I'm playing a BRV campaign at the moment, but I prefer the CH presentation.

The Schwerepunkt offerings underwhelmed me this year. Not many of the scenarios cried out to be played.

Dispatches was good as usual. Jungle Rats is a nice scenario.

All the best

AoO of course, then the SP offerings and Friendly Fire 2. Design Pack 2 looks promising as well, but I haven't played anything yet.

More and more I am finding myself in this boat. Sure I would like to think I have a chance to win them all on some level, but I am simply glad to just be playing ASL. I will work my butt off to win in any situation, but I am not playing ASL for the mortgage money. Just give me something interesting to play, early- to mid-war, combined arms, interesting toys on each side, some opprotunity for each side to have some maneuver, and lets dice for sides and get to it. There is something to be learned in any game. There is something to be appreciated in any scenario. There always seems to be a lesson in each game that I can take away with me. Maybe I am just not jaded by >500 playings of ASL. Lets just pick a scenario that strikes our fancy and get on with it already. Just my .02 -- jim

As long as CH provides me with these corrected materials at no charge I won't ultimately have an issue with the errata. It's how a company follows up and makes a good faith effort to fix mistakes that matters to me.
They've put an upgrade kit up, hope a downloadable updated ruleset appears...

Thank you Chad, I was searching for this kit but that guy's websight just plain sucks. So I get to pay $13.00 more for the privilage of playing CH! Berlin module.

Wonderful

Or, you could just pay attention to the errata and not pay a darn thing.

I haven't noticed anybody criticizing MMP for not making available free copies of the ASLRB with included errata. In fact, you had to pay far more for Armies of Oblivion to get the ASL errata pages than you had to pay for the Berlin upgrade kit to get the Berlin errata--except that Critical Hit also made the errata available for free elsewhere, while MMP did not.

As I'm not going to pay anything to update something I haven't even had a chance to play yet, (and I'm not sure if I'd want more of these counters) I'm going to wait and see if there's a compiled errata posted. Until then, if the opportunity arrises, I'll play using the current posted errata (including the Q&A and the one updated page that they did post.)

Dave Lamb did say, "I hope to make a corrected pdf of the rules and those scenarios with errata - available to Ray to post in the free download section on the CH website in the near future." on the CH Message Board back in September... Ray said "This should be up by mid October as a download." :hissyfit:

Sorry fella, but I have no desire to get into a tit for tat with you, I'm just here to enjoy ASL and chat.

Upgrade Kit

Why are there new counters for CH Berlin module?

From what I'm reading I can download errata elsewhere, but if I get the upgrade kit I get new rules pages, new scenario cards and new counters.

I'm wondering if these new counters are extras to use with the originals, or replacements for the originals which were wrong.

If the latter then (IMHO) CH! would be best served by GIVING these counters away to owners of the 1rst edition.

Making your customers whole when you screw up is a common (and good) business practice by vendors in many different industries. Its an excellent tactic if you desire to keep those customers.

If they make 1st edition owners pay for 2nd edition corrections, then that means something else entirely.

Hmmm, isn't official MMP errata posted in the Journals? Last I looked we pay for those.

Most of the corrections are on site at MMP.com. Have to pay for that if you consider the cost of an internet connection...

The counters that come with 2nd ed. are extra counters usable in any scenario or the CG. They are not necessary, but a nice added bonus. Any errata counters that came in 1st ed. have already been fixed with the third countersheet that was sold with that edition. The third countersheet is no longer necessary with 2nd ed.

I expect that customers uninterested in purchasing the upgrade kit (with its two countersheets - duplicated to four), may download the errata-free, four scenario cards and a rulebook pdf off of the CH website sometime soon. I'll appraise members of this forum when that's available.

"Wow, what an awesome attitude!"

Contrary to what you see on the forums, I thinl you'll find that most players are rather easy going about the hobby.

Get thee hence to a tourney, VERY different vibe than here! Being an Iowan I've had the chance to play many a Minnesotan/western Wisconsinite. Very enjoyable folks to play. If you can, get hooked up with one of the locals!!
