SSR2 "A Foxhole is treated as a building for Rout (A10.5) and Rally (A10.61) purposes."

Does the broken unit have to be under ("in") the Foxhole to claim the rally benefit, or is just being in a hex with a Foxhole sufficient?

If a unit can reach a Foxhole hex in exactly six MF and so cannot enter the Foxhole itself, it that hex considered a valid rout target?

If a unit routs to a hex with a Foxhole as its rout target, must it enter that Foxhole? If it must enter the Foxhole and would be unable to do so because of the presence of other units, is that hex no longer a valid rout target (unless a rout target for other reasons, e.g. also being woods)?

If a unit routs to a hex containing a Foxhole with the idea of continuing its rout to an adjacent woods/building, must it enter the Foxhole first and exit before continuing on, or can decide not to enter the Foxhole and continue on immediately at its option?

Not well-developed SSR ... I suspect that you would have to enter the foxhole but it isn't a separate location. An analogy that breaks almost immediately would be if a broken unit could rout to its destination by bypassing the building woods to get to a different woods/building behind it. But brokies don't bypass so that doesn't work. I would either play it as have to enter or find a different scenario that doesn't have broken (pun) SSR.

The ASLRB should usefully include a para starting by: "A SSR may grant rout and rally terrain capabilities to Foxholes. (...)"

The para would supply answers to those asked by JRV and provide easy reference to scenario designers (and would also contribute to redeem the Foxholes in ASL).

As the SSR is written I would guess treated as a building means in the building=in the foxhole i.e., beneath (not on the "roof").

No.

It must enter into the Foxhole, if unable to, it ain't a valid Rout target.

If a unit routs to a hex containing a Foxhole with the idea of continuing its rout to an adjacent woods/building, must it enter the Foxhole first and exit before continuing on, or can decide not to enter the Foxhole and continue on immediately at its option?
If it has designated the Foxhole as its Rout Designation it must first go into it before it can possible continue.

This Leaflet House Rule used for years is more clearly written then this new one.
Although, the rule should mean the same.

6. ENTRENCHMENTS & EMPLACEMENTS: Each Entrenchment counter is treated as a building for Rout (A10.51) towards and beneath it, and for Rally Bonus (A10.61) purposes....

If the leader performing the rally is in the foxhole and the broken unit is outside, is the rally considered in rally terrain? If the leader performing the rally is outside the foxhole and the broken unit is inside, is the rally considered in rally terrain?

First question: No, second question: Yes.

A10.61 lists Trenches among the Rally Bonus terrains - which thus provide a comparable situation with the SSRed foxholes.
It speaks of a "Rally attempt".
A10.6 says that broken units attempt to rally.
So I would say that it is the Broken unit's position which counts, that is : it benefits from the foxhole Rally bonus DRM if it is in it.
Whether the leader is in or on top of the foxhole has no bearing on the application of the Rally bonus.

All consistent with intent, anyway - even if not as clear as point #6. The foxhole itself is the rout/rally terrain - NOT the foxhole hex.

Nice try Pete.

Unfortunately, the only way to Fix the Foxhole is by making entry/exit identical to Shellholes.

Then you will see it used everywhere, regardless of Rout Terrain etc.
