Aaron, for some reason in the excel file you gave me several lines in the round # column are mixed. So for example some results of the 4th round are in the middle of results of the 5th. This happens only in the SLL.
Apparently il does not impact values, I believe.

I am just a bit overwhelmed by all this information.
all results for VASLeague seasons 2007-2019 are in the VASLeague site in a more readable format. Other Tournaments have (or should have) their own records in their site or, at least, they should be kept by the respective TDs.

I believe Aaron is using this thread to test GLICKO and show everyone how it works (basically how rate changes after a tournament). Also is useful for the TDs that can double check results because in the double translation PDF-> excel-> GLICKO something crazy could happen, as we have seen.

hopefully, when everything is set up, GLICKO will operate quietly in the silence of its separate website away from the light of the forum more or less as AREA did.

Hi All

I have the results from the 2018-2019 tournament of the French Forum in excel format. Where do I send the file for APCR ?

Regards
Lionel

I recommend holding onto it for now. Aaron’s work on APCR has been sidetracked by Real Life.

Pretty sure Aaron can incorporate the data at the present state of things. The main thing is don't lose the data, but you can probably contact him via PM here and he will get back to you. :)

I'm late to this party but I brought something to share...

Recently, after meeting with Stan Jackson, I asked him his current rating after a recent tournament. He told me that asl-area.org hadn't been updated in quite some time. I reached out to Bruno on a whim offering my assistance with the site. I have years of experience working with data (financial industry) in all shapes and sizes. I knew whatever he was doing I could adapt and bring current.

After a Skype call this past weekend, I assume to make certain I wasn't a crazy person but someone that he could trust and have faith in, I was given all the databases, raw data, various stand-alone files, scripts, and so on to review and bring current in both games and process.

Stan turned me onto this thread. After reading through the entire set of posts, I wonder if I'm reinventing the wheel if the majority believes this recent effort succeeds asl-area.org.

I'm by no means and ASL guru. I played it when it was just SL and dabbled in ASL. However, I have great respect for the passion the players have for the game. This was just a way for me to support them and volunteer my time and resources.

Please let me know if you'd like to see asl-area.org continue on with a face-lift, refined and up-to-date data, but continuing with the current ELO format. Glicko is something Bruno had begun working to utilize but never fully implemented it.

I just want to invest my time wisely and give the players what they want.

Oh, and FWIW, the current data set covers 28,492 games from 4/3/1998 through 7/29/2018.

Hi there,

for me, as a past TD and long-standing tournament player, it would make more sense to have only one resource and ranking system. The AREA that Bruno put so much effort into has been dormant/comatose for many years now. The APCR is a new initiative and seems to be more user-friendly (ie easier to fill and keep updated).

So personally I would not recommend spending more energy on reviving AREA and giving TDs and players choice where to put their data. I think that might weaken both. APCR is new and shiny and can hopefully fulfill the needs on competitive ASL rankings for the foreseeable future.

All that with great appreciation and respect for all the work Bruno did between 2000 and 2010 (roughly ?), which I enjoyed being part of both as a player and as TD of 7 editions of the Arnhem ASL tournament.

I would suggest you contact Aaron and Michael Rodgers and see if you can help in any way, sort of the way you did with Bruno.

But I agree with Peter's (aka Jacometti) post above.

All this said, thank you for trying to help us out in all this. Maybe it will bring you back to the game a bit more.

I too would like an update. I’ll be seeding the Bitter Ender in late March.

Aaron could well be affected by the fire conditions in Sydney. I believe he lives in that zone...

Second hand, I have heard that Aaron's work life has stopped him from working on the APCR project. I would say that it is dead. If anyone else wants to pick up the challenge, please speak up.
