No idea what the "CX Pack" is or where the reference is on the aslok site. I couldn't find it on the site when looking for it, but that doesn't mean it's not there.
Bret,
Not a big deal, but on the Agenda page, check out the last line of the Friday write-up:

"FRIDAY: GROFAZ and OPEN gaming continue. Friday "Mark Nixon" MINIs and GROFAZ MINIs kick-off promptly at 8:00 AM. Awards presented to Thursday THEME Tournament winners around 6:00 PM. Newer players can sign up for MANEUVERS for a grognard tutorial on any rules that may be ailing them. Miss the minis or get bumped early, look to sign-up for the "Bonus Mini" from the brand new CX Map Pack starting as we can pair from ~10 to 12..."

Just received the MMP email about AP13 for pre-order at $16.00 until the 15th.

You need to get these while you can. The APs are great scenario packs.

Just ordered it. 22$ with shipping. So, if I had waited, $28 w/ shipping.

Take advantage of the sale!

Yeah, that sounds fine. Too bad for non-American customers (not sure what it's like for Canadians): $16 for the product, about $22 more for shipping - I'll have to wait for some Euro distributor to sell it (not sure what the final price will be).

$31.50 total shipped to Canada. That's $15.50 to ship according to MMP's shipping calculator.

No idea if this is the actual shipping cost or not. However, it's worth noting that the same calculator calculates the cost of shipping five copies of Yanks at $86.55, which is pretty typical. (I think the most we've paid in shipping for one standard box from MMP is just under $110.) Interestingly, to ship the same box back to MMP would cost less than $30 (USD).

You could try UGG (Udo Grebe Game Design). I believe he ships throughout Europe. Shipment from US to him is by ship, I believe. So it will take a couple of weeks longer, but price will be lower compared to direct shipment from US.

If you know a couple of guys going to ASLOK, you could implore them to bring back a copy for you. Given the price & the minimal additional packing space it requires, they may be favorable to the request. You would then only have to pay shipping from their home destination to yours.

I've ordered from UGG in the past, and will clearly consider them this time. But there are also a few French online stores that regularly carry new MMP items. I'm not worried that I'll miss the AP; it's just that MMP's shipping costs are so outrageous, they make it impossible to preorder.

The USPS is the most gulty of the shipping costs.
Prices rocketed without reason some years ago.

Hey all, I'm considering jumping on this, but as an ASLSK player moving to full ASL with only BOB, BV3, Y2, and HP....would I be able to get the most out of this without other "core modules"?

"Along with the “typical” Russian, German, and American battles, these scenarios also involve Poles (both 1939 and 1944 versions), British, Japanese, Chinese, the Free French, and the SS (of all different squad types)."

• AP121 Along the Vistula – 6½ turns, 15 September 1939, Warsaw, Poland
• AP122 Mechanized Sacrifice – 6½ turns, 24 June 1941, Lutsk, Ukraine
• AP123 Busting in Balta – 6 turns, 3 August 1941, Balta, Ukraine
• AP124 Lunch in Luga – 8 turns, 24 August 1941, Luga, Russia
• AP125 Ambush on South Knob – 6 turns, 10 March 1944, Bougainville, New Guinea
• AP126 Maryuma’s Stronghold – 7½ turns, 18 May 1944, Myitkyina, Burma
• AP127 The First Virtue – 6½ turns, 17 June 1944, Elba, Italy
• AP128 Flight of Fancy – 6½ turns, 8 July 1944, Herouville, France
• AP129 A Polish Battlefield – 7½ turns, 20 August 1944, Hill 262, France
• AP130 Mageret Morning – 7 turns, 8 January 1945, Mageret, Belgium
• AP131 Crickets in Spring – 7 turns, 7 March 1945, Aranyos-Puszta, Hungary

Anyone have an idea which additional modules you'd need for these scenarios? Or is this just a "get it cuz it's cheap"?

Go to the ASL Scenario Archive. There, you can look up this publication, and see what forces are involved, and which boards are used.

After that, your decision.

In general, the Action Pack scenarios are (physically) unplayable if you don't have full kit. My guess, based on my experience in your same situation, is that maybe 3-4 of those are playable with what you've got (and you're in a better position than you would be with a Journal, because at least the boards will be biased toward the board that come with the Action Pack).

On the other hand, several of the (physically) unplayable scenarios will be workable in VASL if you play that way.

So if you are a VASL guy, I would probably recommend going for it, but if not, the APs seem to stay in stock for a good long while, so I might wait until you've built up a bit more kit.

Looks like only AP124 would be playable with what Kaiax33 has (assuming his SK include board r). He'd also have the board (78) for AP125, but it includes the Japanese.

Kaiax: getting the "Map Bundle" (boards 1-52 and t-z) and the future "Supplemental Map Bundle" (boards 53-77, p-s, plus the double-wide maps) would mean you'd have about all the geomorphic maps MMP has released; it's not cheap, though, and the second bundle hasn't yet been released. If you end up buying the core modules you're missing, you'll get most (all?) of the first bundle; the second one is full of boards that came in various Action Packs that have become somewhat hard to track down.

Thanks all! Great info and really appreciate the patience. Familiar with the Scenario Archive but wasn't sure these newest ones were posted.

You have already received plenty of good advice, but no-one brought up the actual important point: MMP does not reprint Action Packs. If you don't buy it now, it might not be available in the future. The question is not "can I make any use of this product in the immediate future?" but "do I think I will want to own this product at all?" If the answer to the second question is "yes" then you are advised to purchase it at the earliest opportunity.

The same question, and the same answer, applies to any products that MMP releases. Some of those products will get reprinted in the future ... usually after a very long wait. Most will never get reprinted at all.

The maps will likely join the Map Pack, and thus be once again available when reprinted. As for the scenarios, get while the getting is good!
