There was a movie I remember seeing several times as a kid. It was black and white and was probably made at the end of the war or shortly after.

I remember was night time jungle/swamp scene. The Americans were in a log fortification with an water-cooled MG. The MG had a luck shamrock sticker on it. During the battle, the gunner was blinded but kept fighting.

What was that movie?

Pride of the Marines (1945). The scene you describe starts around 45 minutes in. Your memory is quite accurate, though the MG appears to be water cooled. Others will know this immediately...some variant of the M1917 Browning.

The 1917 Browning was the original design from John Browning and adopted in 1917. A modification was made post-WWI and resulted in the M1917A1.
The air-cooled version was M1919 (A4 for tripod-mounted and A6 for bipod-mounted). But as I recall from Strong Men Armed, the weapon in question
was the water-cooled version.
