Board 36, playing Burn Gurkha, Burn

Question arose on stream/ford LOS to hill 502.

1. Z7 to Z5 (ford, ie dry stream)
2. Z7 to Z4 (ford, ie stream)
3. AA8 to Z5 (ford, ie dry stream)
4. AA8 to Z4 (ford, ie stream)

We allowed #1 and #3 above.

#1 is 2 levels up, 2 hexes away.
#2 is 2 levels up, 3 hexes away.
#3 is 3 levels up, 2 hexes away.
#4 is 3 levels up, 4 hexes away.

Correct?

I would say #2 is a good LOS also. The ford does not change the hieght of the hex, it's still -1.
True, but Z7 is still 3 hexes away from the Z4 depression with only a 2 level height difference.

I think "guest" called it correctly.

Well, a picture speaks a 1000 words.

1 is good, although there is a +1 Marsh hindrance

2 is, IMO, also good; since Z7 can see INTO Z5, it may continue down the stream (unless LOS touches the non-stream artwork on you board); however, one could argue that the bridge depiction precludes the ability for a unit to see down the stream since there is no stream art to base LOS on. That would be a good question for MMP.

3 is also good (units 1 hex away have to be at level 0; 2 hexes away at level 1, etc.). Also a +1 hindrance for Marsh.

4 LOS is blocked as the LOS passes through non-stream artwork in Z4 and in Z5.

Please, no! One would have to be pretty lame to argue that! :)

And it certainly wasn't the basis for my answer. I just forgot about this part...
