At the beginning of its MPh, a Berserk unit has no Known Enemy Unit in LOS. A15.431 states that it must begin its charge with, as its target, the position previously occupied by the closest KEU. So far, so good.

If, during its charge, but before reaching this target hex (which is in LOS, and thus known to not contain any KEU), it starts seeing (new and old) Known Enemy Units, does this change the target of the Charge, or does it have to reach the target hex before changing targets? Does it change anything whether the newly known units are closer than the original target?

The quote below (from A15.431) isn't 100% clear to me - it doesn't say whether this "charge last known location" rule trumps the "change target if new enemy unit is known" possibility.

Should the only Known enemy unit no longer be in his LOS in the interim, the berserk unit still charges toward the hex originally occupied by that unit. If it still sees no Known enemy unit, it ends its move after entering that Location, and the berserk status is removed at the end of that current phase. Otherwise, it continues its charge to the now nearest Known enemy unit.

You start going towards the last known location. As soon as you see an enemy unit, that then becomes your target. There is no need to reach the "last known location".
This is because the new enemy unit is automatically closer than any unknown unit.

I would interpret this as including the case when the original target is no longer in LOS, that is, the berserk unit is in the act of charging the nearest Known enemy in its LOS even if that enemy has departed. So if it finds another enemy closer before it reaches the now-empty target hex, it changes course. Otherwise it completes its charge to the now-empty target hex, then re-thinks the charge. The other alternative (always changes course, per Vinnie) is also a reasonable way to play, but I find this one slightly better.

edit:

Per the Q&A, Vinnie has it right:

A15.431 A Berserk unit starts its MPh with no Known enemy unit in LOS and charges the last known position of an enemy unit. During the charge, it comes into LOS of a known enemy unit. Does it now alter its course to charge the new known enemy unit even if farther away than the position it was originally charging?

Charge the location of the last KEU and the target can change as many times as necessary to charge the closest KEU.
