So how many schlubs like me show up for NYSASL Championships. I mean this sounds like a very serious tournament. Do you let riff-raff in who are still learning the game. A victory against me wouldn't be something a tournament player would be proud of, but it looks like I will miss ASLOK this year and Albany is closer. Is there enough side action going on for noobs to get some practical experience without paying for pain?

We have a number of inexperienced players every year and that number is growing. We try to make the matches as competitive as possible. Therefore, if you show up you will get matched with someone around your experience level. The great thing about tournaments is that you learn so much faster than on your own. You learn from your games, but you also learn while you walk around the room watching other games. It's also a chance to learn strategy. For example, you setup a defense in a scenario and while your opponent is setting up his attacking pieces you walk around the room and you can get a sense for what some of the more experienced players did with their setup. We had two fairly new players last year. Maybe they will see this and chime in with their opinion. I encourage you to attend...

I resubbed last night - he's around. Maybe he's out spending my USD$15 on real estate in Cleveland.

about PBS.
probably is clearly written somewhere but I do not find in the Albany tournament site what happens if players bid for different sides (i.e. Player A offers 2 to play Russians, Player B offers 1 to play Germans).
I guess they play the preferred side disregarding any OB modification. Everyone is happy, no reason to change/shuffle things on the table modifying the scenario if not strictly necessary.

I asked because I'm going to use (with mr Pleva's permission) the PBS used for Albany 2016 to decide sides in my next VASLeague game.

You don't need my permission to use PBS, but you certainly have my blessing!

Hey Joe, e-mail me at aslbunker@aol.com

I've been bombarded with e-mail since I sent #43 out.

You can send $14.00 via PayPal to PinkFloydFan1954@aol.com

Thanks for reaching out, I'm OK for sure, Vic.

Hotel is booked. I'm staying at the venue for a change. It will be nice to roll out of bed and walk to game room. I just hope they have hot water :)

Hi Guys,

How are you doing for places? Looks like I might be able to swing up from Florida again this year, if you have space for a ****in limey.

Phil,
Because of the extra day we have no space limitations. Even if we did have space limitations we'd send a special hit team out to make room for you... :)

Seriously, it'll be great to have you back!

I'm new to the NE New Jersey/NYC area with only the pocket rule book and charts. The rest of my gear is in storage in Houston. Sadly it's been a while since I've played but I might be able to come on Saturday. Do others come just one day? TIA.

Chris,
Sure, we get one day'ers for Saturday. Gary Trezza will hopefully chime in to tell you what time to show up. If you arrive in the middle of the early round you might have to wait. Best to avoid that outcome.
