Its an interesting add on, the main part is to add in the other 2 8 inch guns on the tail of the parrot.

Make sure you post up the short file on how to modify the BR:T CGs to accomodate the extended map.

Got this map and the modifications. Makes a very interesting 'improvement' to the BRT CG. What I like is that the Marines receive the two extra battalions which were not included in the original CG to make up the full division. With the extras you have the whole atoll and the whole division attacking it. Superb!

not quite the whole division. you are still out of luck on the last 2 BLTs. One was held by HM Smith himself as floating Amph Corps Reserve near Makin; the other was almost lost to a man on trying to cross the reefline from their LCP's. But otherwise you do get the rest of the 2nd Mar Div in all its glory, and a good glimpse at how units were combat loaded aboard the APAs and AKs.

So the 2nd Division had 10 Battalions in total? BRT uses 6 of them, and with the extended Tarawa rules/map I guess you could add 1-3 extra ones (if the 10th was a reserve which did not see combat).

Utmost Savagery by Lt Col Alexander is the best resource I know for the OoB of the Amphib Corps as it entered the Tarawa Atoll that November. His research is impeccably accurate and well done on this point. History of USMC Operation in WW 2 ( The red books) list the following...

2nd Mar Div as of Nov 1st, 1943 was as assigned by HQMC to consist of the following units, and to be committed to the battle in Operation Galvanic :

Now you can see the entirety of the assigned forces. the resource document there is available online at hyperwar on the Web, and the preceding appendix to this one lists the starting locations of each of the sub - units ( ie. where they embarked and sailed from and where they met th Galvanic Force at en route.)

This was a mish mash of units not trained to work as a large amphibious force yet. For an example, Lt Hawkin's detachment and the rest of that convoy did not meet up with the rest of the division until the Galvanic convoy from New Zealand passed New Ireland and stood several miles off Kaveing.

You can compare the above to the BLT rosters and schedules and see what is "still afloat" during those 76 hours of battle.

I don't think so, but I can easily create one out of this, but not sure if it will mate up with the original, but I can try..

Good job posting this, Kevin.

Got it somewhere (map and all on digits) just gotta dig it up again as being your download doesn't download due to its size.

I'm sure those that didn't know it existed will be happy!
