;)I just started w job, but told my boss I needed two days off to go to WO. I didn’t use that phrase – I believe that my exact words were ‘I have been asked to represent the Chinese delegation in a matter concerning putting all of Korea under one ruler.’ Since I was going to be playing Justiciar as the CVPA, this was technically true. I’m not trying to take Dennis Rodman’s job role from him. For one thing, I can’t compete with his hair.

Job hunting tip – tell them that you cannot accept the offered position until you consult with your astrologist. Your future employer will appreciate the fact that you aren’t willing to just jump at an offer, and the fact that you seek advice and wisdom from others such as Madame Varnia speaks well of your ability to work well with others.

Justiciar wanted to take the ‘muricans in ‘We Are Friends.’ Tanks and infantry are on the road when the Chinese open up on them. The Chinese get points for killing or immobilizing tanks, and for control of buildings and hill hexes way down the end of the board. They have to set up on 3 boards. The ‘muricans get UN infantry reinforcements. the kicker for the US is that any change of VCA or offroad movement is a Bog check. Justiciar wanted the balance, which is 6 points instead of 5.

My plan was to use some infantry to kill the tank escort, while others ran along both hills to try to get across the stream. My antitank assets were two bazookas and a 57 RCL. C1 went kinda well – one tank is flamed, one killed, but the crew survived. Backblast claimed the life of one bazooka crew.

A1, the tail end tank was Shocked by the RCL. The flaming wreck meant that my bazookas had no shot. But Justiciar needed to retreat with his three other tanks. He decided to go around the Shocked tank, rather than into the same hex. I would have gone through to reduce the number of Bog checks.

Which is why I’m not him. He passed all of his bog checks with all three tanks. I think he made 22 Bog checks. Twenty-two. The mind boggles.

C2, the Shocked tank recovers. I X out the RCL on a shot. Infantry shoot up most of his escorting infantry. AdvF baz shots do nothing.

A2, three tanks have made it across the stream and take positions. The Tank Formerly Known As Shocked backs up several hexes.

C3, while my flankers continue to stroll forward, the rest of my force charges his lone tank. True, he does have an armor leader, and a squad and heroic leader with him. But I have a horde! With bazookas!

What I did not know was that this tank was named ‘Fury.’ A squad ran up to the outside the VCA. Snakes on a shot from the Hero vaporized him. Another squad tries. Snakes on the residual shot cut them to pieces. Being a slow learner, I try again. A 3 on the residual shot resulted in more croakage. Now, I’m not one to whine. But when your opponent’s average roll is 2.3...

More charging, and more carnage. Fury fired, critical hit, ROF. Fired again, hit, ROF. Fired again, hit, but lost rate. Intensive, hit. Additional lead from the squad and tank MGs, and I had no one that could jump on the tank. One bazooka was laying in the street surrounded by twitching bodies. The other one shot and missed.

A3, a bazooka claims Fury, but I X out the bazooka. By now his reinforcements are in position on the other side of the stream, backed by three tanks. I play a bit more, but half of my flankers are reduced or striped, with the one leader on the right gone. My PMC is failed, and I lock myself in the bathroom and weep bitter tears.

Justiciar thought that the best CVPA strategy was to Hordely Charge the column on turn 1. That didn’t sound appealing to me – lots of 12-2 shots from the infantry, plus shots from the tanks and the three MGs they each had means a wall of residual fire. He didn’t think that taking buildings or hills was going to happen. Certainly the reinforcements can get in position long before the CPVA have a chance of getting close.

By game end, I had lost the MMG, MTR, RCL and one BAZ, all to MALF RALPH.

There have been a couple posters regarding this as pro-CVPA. I can’t help but wonder if they remembered when playing that:

CVPA SWs are under Ammo Shortage due to the scenario date.

BAZ and RCL shots need to add an additional drm to modify their TK rolls.

Tanks are Low Ground Pressure, which helps their Bog checks.

It wasn’t all one-sided – I nailed three tanks, and all of their infantry escort. But that still left me three points short – two if we weren’t using the balance.

Gut feeling is pro-US, but still fun.

Shout out to Justiciar, the Seoul Man for his new Korean module ‘The Fight For Seoul’, just released by LFT. Awesome maps of both downtown Seoul (with boutiques conveniently located for your shopping pleasure, and restaurants eager to serve you the culinary delights that Korea is famous for), and the rice paddies outside town. Lots of scenarios and two CGs. The city map includes the railroad yards and train station, but not the Seoul Train. ;););)
