Quite new to ASL and reading about Fire Lanes and Alternate Hex grains ( A 9.221) and that sections example confuses me.

If the fire lane is traced through a hex spine ( as opposed to hex grain ) is the FP in the none-bisected hexes halfed?

Or, thinking about it, can somones please just explain what A 9.221 boils down to?

A9.221 -- pick one side or the other; the side selected gets the fire lane, the other does not.

Larry is right. Only to clarify a bit more: When you place the fire lane along an Alternate Hex Grain, you place the FL marker so that it shows whether you select the left or right of the two, and this will be the same for all the hexspines of the FL.

For "the old AH" version, i.e. version 1 there came errata pages in 1992 (in Croix de Guerre) that changed the Fire Lane rules quite a bit.

At least I think it was i CdG

I did not check the fire lane rule in my archives. It is in the '92 update and A9.221 does have the bullet next to it. Page A18 superscript 92.

Fire Lanes '85

My copy of the ASLRB is from 1985 - afaik - page 18 has not been updated yet.
Id's say if you fire along a hex grain, you get
a) half firepower in each hex your firelane bisects, and
b) half firepower for the two hexes that have the hexside in common that your firelane runs along. e.g. K8 & L7 for a Firelane running from L8 to K7.
In the two hexes adjacent to your MG, the FP is doubled because of PBF.
This only works, if you can trace a LOS to
a) the hex center dot
b) the hex center dot or one of the vertices that lie on the hexside your firelane runs along (i.e. 'a valid vertex)

At least that is how I've been playing it.

Superstar,

I have an extra set of the 92 pages listed above if you want them
I wanted to purchase the next module (which would be Crix de Guerre) soon anyway - but thanks for the offer.
