I have two questions - hopefully someone has the answers
  1. Each stone building is worth 4VP. Does this includes the 4 east of the canal? [I'm assuming not....]
  2. British OBA: no mention of whether HE only or Smoke as well - do we assume they have both?
Cheers

1. Yes (as in I don't think I've seen any errata for this scenario). Out if curiosity, why do you assume no?

2. If this scenario were to be re-published, the SSR would spell it out. There is a old, long, unofficial Q&A that sort of deals with the lack of ammo-specification. The result is HE/Smoke.

C1.7 a) In a scenario, can an OBA module ever
use Smoke/SMOKE if not expressly allowed, by
SSR, to do so?
A. Yes.
b) If so, how does one determine whether or not
Smoke/SMOKE is available to an OBA module?
A. If the module is not restricted in the SSR and
Smoke/SMOKE was available at that time for
that artillery, then assume it is available for the
module.
c) How does one determine if “Smoke/SMOKE
was available at that time for that artillery”? For
example, does German artillery never have
Smoke (because there is no such indication on the
German OBA Availability Chart), or does it
always get it (because there exist German MTR
and ART game pieces of 80+ to 150+ mm size
having depletable Smoke)?
A. German and Russian modules all have Smoke,
unless the SSR specifically mentions what is
available.
d) For any nationality: need a player only find
one game piece (or OBA Availability Chart
entry) of proper caliber, date, and depletable
ammo type, to claim a Smoke/SMOKE capability
for an OBA module?
A. Unless the SSR specifically mentions what is
available.
e) Looks to me like one may need to study all the
following:
  • Nationality OBA Availability Chart (if any)
  • Nationality Ordnance Listing
  • Nationality Ordnance Rarity Factor Chart (if
any) to determine capabilities of an OBA module. Is
that correct?
A. Yes. Which is why SSRs of late have specified
what is available. [

I imagine Gandalf the grey lit by candles scattered around the room, sifting through stacks of dusty rule book chapters murmuring arcane spells while deciphering whether or not a Romanian OB in the Caucasus in 1942 is entitled to Smoke/SMOKE or not. All the while wreathed in smoke from his pipe (EXC: if mud is in effect).

You can't emplace the Guns on the paved road! Even the orchard paved road.

The orchard paved road/HIP thing came up in my game with Fort some years ago. IIRC, he had Hidden an 88 in one such hex, only to learn that it was not emplaced.

As the Brits, I assumed that my OBA included HE/SMOKE, and dropped WP on a patch of woods to flush Fort's HIPpies. (Exposed a HS waiting to faust on one of my Crocs.) The Germans still won. :(

Given what Klas noted above, I'm having doubts about WP. It looks like only the 3.7-in. Howitzer (94mm) had WP, while none of the 25-pounders (88mm), vehicle-mounted or otherwise, did. And although the 3.7-in was used in the Scheldt estuary, this pack howitzer doesn't appear to have been used in the Netherlands (or elsewhere in NW Europe). Agree with Klas that the OBA should be spelled out in any update of this classic scenario.
