Gentlemen
it's time to have a VASLeague logo.

After all I think that VASLeague is the most lasting online wargame tournament of all times being at its 12th season in a row.
Incidentally VASLeague is also the most attended online tournament of the internet era (about 130 players in 2018, and 370+ entrants in total from 2007 ), of the most complex wargame ever.

For who does not know VASLeague I suggest a quick visit here: www.vasleague.org

So I'm here to ask to anyone with the proper skill to draw a simple VASLeague logo using possibly some of the classic basic elements we all know in any combination he likes:
The ASL logo, the old McGowan emblems, the German SMC silhouette ...
the current hex & V logo from VASSAL...
plus, but not necessarily, something that recalls the concept of "tournament" like a podium, a medal or whatever comes in mind.

My idea is to create a microbadge for BGG from the logo.
Sadly my not existing skill requires your help.
Any draw,or idea, or comment, or suggestion, can be posted here or sent to VASLeague@gmail.com.

If there are more options I could decide to ask the forum to vote.

The winner gets a lifetime free subscription to VASLeague!

Staff Members, please move the thread to the VASLeague 2018 general discussion if this is not of general interest.

first impression is very good.
I suggest two things: "VASLeague" and not VASLEAGUE all in capital letters,
and, perhaps, it would be nice if in the background, behid the figure, appears partially the VASSAL logo, i.e. the V and the three green hexes.
Not sure if the net result is better, but I would make a try.

A few attempts:
1-3) The stencil font doesn't have a lower case, but I tried a few work-arounds. There is probably a better font than the one I chose for #3, but this was the best I found in a quick survey of my choices.

4 gets my vote, followed by 7. 6 & 9, a No-No, too overpowering.

I respectfully disagree. With an eye to micro badges, tiny text is a no-no. 9 is my pick with that in mind (6 being more saturated is too much).

I admit I’m concerned the laurel won’t translate to microbadge, but it’s such a cool and distinctive image, I hope it does!

1 + 9's background behind the soldier only.

edit:
A picture is worth a thousand words.

You might well be right with regard to letter and laurel size, but I'm firmly in the less cluttered and more simple camp. Less things blurring together, especially when small, the easier on the eye. YMdoesV

My thoughts had been a bit simpler:
VASL Tourney.png
...with a lot more polish and actual color-matching with the Vassal logo.

And then a particular year's tourney could use:
VASL Tourney 18.png

In comparison, Boylermaker's logo is very good. It'd make a good trophy top. ;) This is what a microbadge would end up like:

I love #9,
but is it possible also add the word VASLeague vertical/horizontal like footsteps did? how the microbadge would appear?

For that micro badge you could reduce it to just the laurels with the VASL V.

How big is a "microbadge"? From memory they are really too small to vote with any text.

Did that..pretty darn tiny. I can't see text workimng at all.
In fact, all this bling bling around the forum avatars at BGG was one reason for me to avoid it and to take roots here. Personal preference, though.
