RV of March Madness Pack Close Combat – a series of very short games where your encouraged (by giving you HtH rules) to get in close and take the VCs by guts alone!

MM52 – a small Stalingrad game in Nov 42 using Bd 22 (light city) and 40 (River) over 4.5 turns with ground snow – 12 German squads (DC and LMG) set up in the city with 1 x PzIIIG and 75mm Armed Ht enter from board edge -and try and take the River board defended by 10 Russian Sqds with only 2 ATRs – so really a bit of a quick snatch and grab – one setup probably and then Germans try and punch a hole and exploit

MM53 – A small Partisan Game in Warsaw – 5 turns using a very small area of the Bnd Fire Boards DW-7b and DW7-a (both dense city bds) – with cellars and MOl for partisans – the VCs are kill partisans! - so–6 partisans (3 special civilians types) and 18 concealments to confuse you where the Axis have 6 x 347s (called Trawniki-man auxillary battalion) with 2 x 548, 5 x 447 SS police battalion – a huge bug hunt game if you like them its yours!

MM54 – A Village attack in May 43 (pre the big attack coming in Kursk) on Bd 1a (litte village in the corner of a big open space with fields and orchards – The Ruskies defend over 5 turns in two groups – 9 x 447 with Lmg and atr – 4 x 527s with lmg and DC and 4 x Valentine V (40L gun) – The Germans attack in a setup group of 2,5 sqds with MMG and ATR and an entry group of 8 x 468 with DC and ATR – it’s a big ask is my take cross the orchards and fields quickly and the take the village – one attack and one attack only

MM55 – Time For Sicily! – a 5 turn game on bd 61 (hills) and 43 (huge wheatfiled) – So the 1st Airborne (12 x 648’s) in fortifications but only with LMGs setup on the hills - some 10 Italian prisoners in tow to slow them down (if they let them go the Germans get their help – attacked by 15 x 548 German paras attacing from one flank – on T2 they get 2 x ACs (PSW222) as help – Wow after setup the Germans have to have guts and take lots of risks!!!

MM56 – Time for Burma – So the IJA defend on bd 6a (the board with the long bridge over a river – hill on one side – village on the other) – over 4.5 turns by setting up one side to the river (Hill) with 6 x 447, 2 x MMG with crew in 2 pilboxes and 4 trenches are attacked from the other side (gota get across the bridge to take the VC hex) by 10 x 458, 3 x 247 Brits with 3 x LMG, 1 x FT and 1 x DC supported by a 3 x 60mm Mtrs – a a rela tough ask for the Brits – Bridge of Death should be the name of this one!

MM57 – Partisans again – French this time in July 44 – over 4.5 turns 4 partisan sqds, 1 crew with a LMG and Light Mtr on Bd 81 and 83 (super high mountain connected boards from FW try and defend a position again 11 German sqds with 2 MMgs and 3 Lmgs and 2 81mm Mtrs – I suppose it looks a bit of a challenge with very few partisans, no time and lots of dummy’s on the partisan side (15)

MM58 – (MIGHT BE ERRATA TO THIS SINCE US ENTER AND NOT SETUP _ LIKELY IJA SETUP FIRST BUT MAYBE US SETUP OFF BOARD) Back to Island hopping in the Pacific and time for NIGHT – Sept 44 on Bd 52 (a big jungle with a very long Railroad through it!- unique terrain for the area)- The 9 x American sqds with 3 x MMGs, 1 x Mtr and 6 x trip flares enter to I think surround a IJA group 6x Sqds, 1 x HMG, 2 x MMG, 3 x LMg, 1 x 81mmMtr and 1 x 50mm Mtr – The IJA have to try and exit so the US have to bottle them up – If it is not Errata then the US are Off board at Entry hexes and the IJA avoid them by setting up in a position that makes them difficult to stop – WOW unique and likely a difficult game to have played since one plan of running is all the IJA have!

MM59 – A second one on the same Pacific Island but massive an Fortification Heaven! – Sept 44 – The IJA defend Bds 39 (Hill covered in Jungle) and 47 (jungle board with more open and long dry stream dissecting it) over 9 Turns!!! – with 11 x Sqds, 1 x HMG, 2 x MMG, 4 x LMG, 2 x 50mm Mtr, 6 x DC, 1 x 81mm Mtr, 1 x 47 ATG, 1 x 70INf in 12 caves, 3 pillboxes, 6 trenches, 8 foxholes, 10 Panaji, 4 Roadblock, 3 Cleared Fire Zones and 42 Mines (on the hill covered in Jungle) – with the US attacking with 13 x Sqds, 1 x 50xal, 2 x MMG, 3x Baz, 1 x FT, 4 x DCs, 2 x 60mmMtr, 1 x OBA100mm, and 4 x M4A1’s – sooo a big bash lots of time and killing each other is the VPs – hard to tell at a glance – US may be under strength

I don't quite understand this, but I think you are saying that the Americans enter on the first turn and don't set up on board. In that case it actually isn't important who is listed as setting up first. During the pre-game, the first player sets up all his on-board forces and then the second player does so. If one or both players don't have any on-board forces, the player skips pre-game setup. Snipers are placed.

Then the first turn begins, with the player moving first (ATTACKER of that player turn) setting up his first turn reinforcements, then rolling for wind change. Because on-board forces are set up in the pre-game, first turn reinforcements are placed after both sides have completed their pre-game setup, and when one side is entirely entering from off board on that first turn, it will see the set up of the other side.

You are correct. This does have errata. The set up instructions for the Japanese are actually the set up for the Americans. The entry instructions for the Americans are actually the entry for the Japanese. The SAN is also inversed for each side. This is the first errata for the pack. Thanks for catching that. I apologize for the confustion.

The scenario is a night infiltration by the Japanese through the American lines.
