A 10.51 Routing – "any terrain"

1) What terrain is meant by " ... any terrain ..." in A 10.51 lines 37-40 ?

2) May I rout to

a) Open Ground

b) Bridge

c) Road

d) Runway

under the provisions of this rule – i.e. no rout path to wood/building exists?

It means exactly that. If you can't rout to woods/building you can rout to any terrain consistant with other provisions of the routing rules.

This rule is always applicable in desert scenarios whre there is usually never a woods/building hex within 6 MF. I don't see a definition of terrain in the 2nd ed index, but if you go to the start of Chapter B it list "Terrain," "Order of Presentation," and lists 34 sections under that heading. Since Open Ground is one of those sections (#1) under "Terrain," I would define Open Ground as a valid terrain hex, thus broken units can rout to any open ground hex in a desert situation (or as in the examples you gave) consistent with the above limitations (i.e. all the other rout rules).

Per B8.45, brokies may never enter Sewers.

E6.1 would prohibit them from entering Water.

B16.4 prohibits low-crawl into Marsh.

Others?

Seems so ... assume they can rout to any terrain feature (w/o woods/bldg w/in 6 hexes) unless those specific terrain-feature-rules prevent rout for whatever reasons (as in the examples given above).

I am looking for exact answers to my questions - and usually get them.
