INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Winnipeg, Manitoba and the 2003 Canadian ASL Open!

The CASLO is in its seventh year and has become Canada's premiere ASL Event. I have the honour of being this year's CASLO Tournament Director and I welcome you to the tournament.

For the past six years, the CASLO has been sponsored and organized by the Winnipeg ASL Club. As of 2003, that responsibility has been assumed by the re-formed Canadian ASL Association. Many thanks go out to the Winnipeg ASL Club for laying the foundation of the CASLO and for developing the successful tournament framework that runs the event. Having the CASLO referred to as, "the best run tournament I've been to"by its attendees is high praise indeed. The Charter Members of the CASLA will work toward building upon that foundation with the goal of creating an even better "National Canadian ASL Tournament."

However, it is not just tournament organization that makes the Canadian ASL Open a great event. The ASL players who travel from across this great country, and abroad, to participate in the CASLO make the
tournament a success.

The 2003 Canadian ASL Open is the final tournament in the CASLA Tournament Year. Upon the conclusion of the CASLO, we will see the crowning of this year's "Top Canadian ASL Player". The 2002 Top Canadian and 2002 CASLO Champ, Jim McLeod, looks to defend his title against a potentially very hard-hitting field. The usurpers are keen to knock off Mr. McLeod and grab the CASLO crown and perhaps even the coveted "Red Pennant" of the Top Canadian ASL Player. That person could be you!

Start making your plans to attend and I hope to see you at the CASLO.

George Kelln, 2003 CASLO Tournament Director
