Is it me or is there no extensions tab to tell VASL to look for other extensions?

Extensions are added by people at will, following their needs.
VASL won't go looking for extensions, as some are not needed for all players.
Some very useful extensions have been integrated in VASL, though.

It's just you, Stew. There absolutely is an extensions tab available in Preferences in VASL6.6.3/VASSAL3.5.8.

Set the directory to where you have extensions saved and VASSAL will look there and load what it finds.

If you are using > VASSAL3.5.8 then maybe they changed the tab, I don't know. But it's there in VASSAL3.5.8

It was likely not included when editing the MOD.
