I'm in the process of drawing a map of Normandy at 1km/hex and I'm considering the possibilty of making a full scenario with it but I was wondering if such scale can be realistic enough for the TOAW engine, what do you guys think?

Two Weeks in Normandy is done at 1.5 kilometer and works out OK. 1 kilometer is pushing it even further though.

Big problem with weapon's ranges, as I see it.

What about 2WinN? The biggest issue is artillery. You could substitute other guns if need be.

Yes, but to halve the range, you are also halving shell weight (approx.) and lethality has a bell shaped curve in TOAW, with a maximum in the 155mm range. Of course, you can substitute howitzers for guns (hmmm...) :hmmm:

In addition to artilery ranges don't forget that movement allowances and density penalties will also be affected. Movement allowances can only be adjusted 50% either way. And if the game thinks the hex is 2.5km then density penalties will be off by a factor of 6.25.
