Welcome to the 18th Annual West Coast Rumble Advanced Squad Leader Tournament!
The West Coast Rumble ASL Tournament (8–10 November 2024) has been proudly hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia for the past 19 years. Our event draws players from the Pacific Northwest (Vancouver Island & the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Oregon, & Washington State), and beyond, including participants from Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Yukon, and as far away as California, Oklahoma, New York, and New Brunswick.
Tournament Structure:
The West Coast Rumble is a 4-Round "Swiss Style" Tournament. In this format, players compete against others with the same Win/Loss record in each round. Unlike a Single Elimination format, where one player remains undefeated, the Swiss Style ensures all players participate in all rounds, with the winner determined by the highest total points.
Determining the Winner:
The winner will be the player with the highest point total at the end of the tournament. Points are awarded as follows:
Top finishers will receive plaques recognizing their achievements. Additional awards include:
SWAG & Souvenirs:
The tournament spans three days with the following schedule:
Scenario List:
Players choose scenarios from the Scenario List of five scenarios per round. No exceptions are permitted, except under extenuating circumstances with the TD’s approval. Each player will secretly rank their top three selections as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. When revealing their choices to their opponent, scenario matches are determined by finding scenarios that both players selected. The scenario with the lowest Rank Average (RA) closest to the first choice will be the scenario to be played.
The scenario list will be released 1 July 2024.
Venue:
The tournament will be held at the Quay Inn, located on the north shore of the Fraser River in downtown New Westminster, British Columbia. Special room rates are available for attendees.
Registration:
The West Coast Rumble is part of the 2024 BottosCon Convention. Registration with the convention is required to participate in the ASL Tournament. There is a limit of 140 participants, and 50% of the spots have already been filled, so register soon to secure your place.
We extend our gratitude to our sponsors who generously support the tournament by donating prizes. Our sponsors include:
