The War Of The Last Alliance- Playtesters Wanted

Below is a quote from the Encyclopedia of Ardar: “For more than four centuries, the forces of the Noldor had besieged Morgoth in his northern fortress of Angband, holding the northern mountain fences of Beleriand and their passes against his forces. In I 455 Morgoth broke the Siege of Angband...

The War Of The Last Alliance- Playtesters Wanted

The War Of The Last Alliance - TWotLA You have probably heard this already, but Peter Jackson has been commissioned to do a two part movie based on “The Hobbit”. After playing a round with your scenario I have come to the conclusion that it definitely needs custom unit icons. Would you...

    Event Variables?

Events Excellent, thank you. But I wonder, how are the actual events written? Can you provide an example of "If not A" then "B" and "If Not B then C" . . . and so on. This is all probably part of the Event Primer put out by TDG, but it would be nice to see the knowledge focused on...

    Get on with it! (Please?)

Instead of asking others . . . Maybe you need to be the first and post Sitreps for your games as an inspiration to others. Then you won't need to make any promises and you can be the hero that starts a regular posting for EA games. Regards, RhinoBones

The Evil Editor has hit again

Outstanding Just did a quick test and it does appear to work. Outstanding. In a related edit, some time ago I did happen to discover that if you trim a map (or add hexes) on either the top or left side, the editor will recalculate any X,Y coordinates that you have in the event list...

The Evil Editor has hit again

It has??? I'll have to leave work early and give this a test. If it was corrected as you say, I certainly don't remember seeing it mentioned in the"What's New" document. This would have been big news to all designers. Or . . . did you just let out a fix that will be in the next patch...

The Evil Editor has hit again

Unfortunately, no. The inserted event cannot be deleted. This has been noted before and is listed on the TOAW III "wish list". Regards, RhinoBones

    Newbie Scenario Editor question

How To Start Start TOAW III and after it opens the screen will show five icons just below the TOAW III splash screen. The icon to the far right is a “Paint Brush”. Chick on the “Paint Brush” for it leads to the scenario editing menu. Open a scenario, or start a new one, doesn’t matter...

Advanced options for the force editor?

Instead of pulling down menus and editing one unit at a time, it would be nice if this data was available in a spreadsheet format. Rows would be the units and columns the values. In a scenario with a few hundred units, imagine how easy it would be to edit the Unit Supply values . . ...

You never know . . . we might be related. Then again, we may have been shooting at each other!

    COMBAT formulas etc...

This is something I have always called the Norm Koger Syndrome. On the surface some things in the data base just do not make sense until it is explained. The explanation is not always perfect, but who am I to complain. I can always make my own data base. BTW, do you know of the villages...

Do we need to do any work on conversions?

Event Errors Message TOAW III also tends to insert, and then fix, errors in the event list. You know this is happening when you get an error message in with the saved files. The scenarios seem to play properly in TOAW III, but for a nice clean scenario you need to go into the event list and...

Do we need to do any work on conversions?

Don’t know if this applies to EA, but you may want to take a look at any event that has a range. In some of my scenarios, if I needed a range of 4, I would purposely set the range at 10 just to give the event a chance of happening on turns 3 and 4. The chance of the event happening on turns 5...

    Question?

Experience With 300X300 Maps Until a fix is released for the 255 hex limitations, I recommend that you stick to 255 or less. Like said, 300 will work but it does tend to cause confusion during replay. As for the supply calculations, my experience has shown that the length of calculation...

    Event Deletion

For the Event Trigger select "No Event" and the event is effectively deleted. The rows (spaces/cells) for the event will remain and can be reused at a later date. In the Matrix Wish List I have asked that a true delete function be added . . . the opposite of the existing Insert Event...

    How do you make maps?

For a map of the real world here is what I do . . . 1. Find some printed maps suitable for the area 2. On the printed map find a land mark which is as close as possible to the center of the map 3. In the map editor trim the TOAW default map to about 150% of what you think you need...
