Hi Martin / Dave, One thing that I think you missed was the potential to do an IED with the demo charge as it is 1945 - G1.6121 In order to win scenarios like this the Japanese has to be sneaky and use all the tricks that they can. Craig did a great article in VFTT on that subject. One other...

    VASLeague 2023

Just finished playing Paul Logger in CH167 The Warlord's Estate. Good balanced scenario (worth giving it a go if you have not played it) that I had thought I had lost as the Japanese and then a good turn got me back in the game. It came down to the wire on the last turn. My tanks and 50 cal...

Assessment of the use of Wargames for Marine training

It's a funny old world. By coincidence a Guardian article appears on the subject: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/sep/30/what-would-happen-if-russia-invaded-finland-i-went-to-a-giant-war-game-in-london-to-find-out

Assessment of the use of Wargames for Marine training

I know a bloke in NATO who plays wargames there for a living. A quote from a colleague of his (and fellow ASL player) was "nice work if you can get it". Neil Stevens (ex Royal Corps of Signals Lieutenant Colonel) is about to get paid to play wargames for the British Army. Also things like...

Where has Von Marwitz vanished to?

What our American friends fail to realise is that Germans get 35 days of holiday a year..........as a minimum. Us Europeans are poorer than the US but at least we get time off to enjoy our poverty

Armoured assault of one hex - can the infantry retain concealement?

Many thanks everyone - apologies forgot to mention that it will of course be moving into an open ground hex.

Armoured assault of one hex - can the infantry retain concealement?

So, If I armoured assault one squad from offboard onto the playing area one hex only and declare an assault move - does the squad retain concealement even if the enemy has a LOS to it? Presumably that is it for the tank - as an assault move has been declared it can only move one hex? Any help...

    Two Things About IR92

Somone I played had a phrase "heavy weapons at the back". I thought it was a good rule of thumb. Put the HMG near the front and it is lost when the guys rout.............

    Two Things About IR92

Well, shows how hard it is to pick a tourny scenario....... Looks balanced on ROAR, a classic and turns out to be a bit of a dog  The scenario at Double One you were talking about Dave was J94 Kempf at Melikhovo. The Russians have to roll to see when the KV comes on. I rolled a 1 on my...
