    Armor Leaders and Bog Removal

Thanks, Bill, exactly what I was looking for! Weird, searched the compilation but did not find it; maybe it was a recent ruling - I'll DL the most recent version just in case...

    Armor Leaders and Bog Removal

Yes, 'either vehicle', but that sentence is in the context of the lengthy passage about another AFV assisting. If no such AFV is actually assisting, you can't choose between an AL from 'either vehicle', right? I.o.w. that sentence seems very much tied to cases where there is an assisting...

    Armor Leaders and Bog Removal

This question came up just now (while playing BFP-48 Ninth Tanks): a fully-tracked AFV is Bogged in Dense jungle, and at the start of it MPh wants to unbog (Bog Removal, D8.3); the DR is 6,1, so with the colored die being a 6. Normally, this would Immobilize the AFV. Now, the AFV has a 9-1 AL...

Based on certain recent (?) discussions here, I suspect YES and NO. But more knowledgeable people should jump in!

Rout Graphic on Page A25 and Rule 20.21

The last sentence of A20.21 also mentions this: " Partisans (25.24), Gurkhas (25.43), Commissars (25.22), SS troops facing Russians (25.11), Fanatics (10.8), Japanese and units faced with No Quarter (20.3) never surrender via the RtPh method; they always use Low Crawl or risk Interdiction to...

    Setting up Dummies HIP legit?

Well, isn't the point of a PS that the matter is not readily clear from the RAW? I.e. there very well may not be any references in the rules.

    Armor Leader - Swapping Tanks...

Getting two precious Panthers shot out from under him? Shouldn't he be put in charge of a Kübelwagen? :)

    WP FirstFire NMC

Ha, I was missing something obvious! Cheers, DV.

    WP FirstFire NMC

I might be missing something obvious here, but the OP asks about "WP placed as FirstFire", so during the MPh- but that's not allowed, right? 8.5 SMOKE (s): Smoke23 may be placed by ordnance/OBA only at the start of the owner’s PFPh/DFPh.

    Danish Crossroads

Played this with Cpl Uhl and can confirm. Wrote this on the scenario archive: "As many others have said, a pretty dicey affair. That's true of most small scenarios, but here it's exacerbated by the German PzII coming on on Turn 4. No matter how things have gone till then, the German player is...

    Pondering Polder

Dutch guy here, born and raised in the polder. The Oberst makes a lot of good points above (posts 24 and 26). One thing I'd add is that there is no one-size-fits-all. Traditional (or real) polders (areas 'stolen' from the sea by building dikes and pumping out the water using mills) are quite...

B13.421 Vehicle moving from woods-road into an adjacent woods hex: one or two Bog checks? How many MP

Interesting question, very helpful info, thanks. And looks like that AFV might get stug, Robin :)

A7.353 SFF Inherent FP vs non adjacent targets

Interesting question. One thing, wrt to your first point: 'Final Fire', according to 8.4, is "that portion of Defensive Fire which occurs during the DFPh", so its general definition does not presume adjacency. In this case, of course, it will actually be the Final Fire of units that are already...

    Question on LOS

Also, looking at the mapboards on the asl scenario archive... that hexside P2/Q3 looks way too narrow on the P2 side for legal VBM. (Interestingly, if I am not mistaken: if the AFV were in Bypass of Q3, along the very same hexside, the VBM would be legal, and the AFV would have LOS to the US unit.)

    Marsh hinderance Q's

I think so. If only because as I understand it, Perry says the Marsh slivers are at -1, which would change quite a bit in the example in post #13 above: i.e. there would be LOS with a +3 Hindrance DRM instead of no LOS at all.

    Marsh hinderance Q's

As a young man said a long time ago in a galaxy far far away: "I don't like sand artwork. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere."

    Marsh hinderance Q's

The EX in B.1 says "Common sense must prevail." in the cases of "terrain symbology [extending] marginally out of a hex into an adjacent hex of another type". I'd argue that the blocked LOS ('Marsh island') example in post #13 flies in the face of common sense.

    Marsh hinderance Q's

I see the logic, but that is a bit of a clusterf***; Doug's example (in post #13) of the blocked shot across the marsh island is then correct as well, but I would never have played it that way (and still feel we shouldn't - i.e. it feels completely wrong for that shot to be blocked).
