This Hallowed Ground - Game in Progress

For most games, I prefer using Defensive Orders simply because I believe not using them stacks the odds a bit in favor of the defender. Too many times, w/o DO, the defender simply stands his ground to the last man, waiting for the attacker to fail CAS. This down to the last man stuff is...

This Hallowed Ground - Game in Progress

Hopefully this will help some, if I understand the situation correctly. When not using defensive orders, orders that just for movement and defend are commonly accepted as simple orders. Two brigades from two different divisions sharing the same orders though, side by side is specifically...

Keep up the AAR, IronMike. Don't let Sam B, get your in way. Have you recovered stragglers yet? If so how is that going? Keith

No argument from me  , and no apology needed. Those Cav battles would be great in CWB!!:yummy: Keith

This Hallowed Ground - Game in Progress

Good and interesting post, but I do think that very few Cav HQ were ever "grounded". The case I was mainly talking about are divisional, brigade, or regimental defensive orders for Cav, where they would need the exception to the rule of not having the leader bolted to the ground. Their CR is...

This Hallowed Ground - Game in Progress

Bob Cloyd, the CWB-CWR honcho, thinks that there should be special allowances for Cav orders. In our 3rd Battle of Manassass battle game (3BoM) at monstercon two years ago we played with such rules to playtest for the new CWB rules. One case in our game, the Cav was allowed to use Defensive...

This Hallowed Ground - Game in Progress

Hmmm, not only is this a difference between CWR and CWB but it is new to CWR with the 3.0 rules, so I was not as wrong as I thought. Off to monstercon, I go!! Keith

This Hallowed Ground - Game in Progress

Just remember the attacking Corps now have to roll for Corps Attack Stoppage whether they took (gave) fire or not. Again sounds like a good game! Keith

I can see both negative and positive too. But I usually play with brigade losses and straggler recovery using the strength counters. At first, I was concerned about stacking but soon realized CWR hardly has a stacking problem for the most part, especially since you can only fire 8 sp's anyway...

Great Pics!! This should be an interesting play to follow. I take it you are using regimental loss sheets as I do not see any strength markers. Looking forward to more! Keith

    This Terrible Sound AAR

Roughly 55 turns for close to 75 hours, it was very enjoyable and I learned the system. When I left off though was where most of the dice rolling and record keeping was getting heavy. Great system, I am playing notchback in an ADC2 PBEM game of Jay's Mill right now, just a great game...

    This Terrible Sound AAR

The End Just in case, anyone was really following my solo AAR of the full battle. I wrapped it up today. Just too many counters to push around and lots of everything else to do by myself. It was well worth the time put into it but there are so many other games to play. It ended with...

    This Terrible Sound AAR

It is the morning of the 19th, CSA gains two good initiative rolls. The cannons roar from the USA lines hurting some regiments but there are too many stop. Negley strikes back at the CSA cav and DH Hill desperately tries to get someone to cross the bridge. Keith P.S. Gary, I would...

    This Terrible Sound AAR

Playing ADC will be fun, and when I make it up to your place, FTF even more fun. But as far as PBEM, VASSAL would be more fun. So today I am looking at what it would take for me to do TSS and at least the four main maps. I am making a list of new scanners, new PCs, and software to choose...
