AFV movement restrictions when using Platoon movement and Armored Assault

If one AFV, from a group of AFV's using platoon movement, has accompany infantry conducting Armored Assault then that AFV is limited to how far the squad could move (Per D9.31 below). Are the rest of the AFV's in the platoon, which do not have any accompanying infantry, similarly limited in their move, or can they use their full MP allowance? For puposes of this example you can assume the D14.21 conditions of platoon movement are met (adjacent, LOS, same stopped/motion status, etc).

D9.31 ....If Infantry move in a stack with the AFV, that AFV cannot move farther than if it were accompanied by that same Infantry throughout the move - even if that Infantry fails to end its MPh in the same hex with the AFV.

Once the platoon starts to move, its constituent parts cannot break away until the start of the next MPh. Therefore, if one AFV is using armoured assault, the rest of the platoon cannot move any further than it does.

14.23 NON-PLATOON MOVEMENT: Radioless AFV need not set up in platoons onboard, but if at the start of its MPh such an onboard Mobile AFV is alone (i.e., doesn't meet the 14.21 requirements) or wishes to break off from its platoon (this is the only time it can do so voluntarily), it must pass a NTC in order to move during that MPh.

Agreed, no breaking of the platoon is allowed. I didn't read the provisions of D9.31 as applying to the rest of the platoon. To the contrary, I thought D14.31 (below) specifically permits the other AFV's to spend the rest of their MP's, and by D14.331 (also below) for those AFV's to move into new hexes.

To use a simple example, a lead AFV, which is part of a platoon of AFV's and is conducting armored assault moves 4 hexes over open ground. By rule D9.31 that lead AFV cannot move into a 5th hex since 4 hexes is as far as the accompanying infantry could move (ignoring CX). But since all the AFV's still have lots of MP's remaining, couldn't the other non armored assault AFV's in the platoon continue to move into hexes beyond the 4 and spend MP's assuming the provisions of platoon movement continue to be met? In practice, the lead AFV would stay put in the 4th hex, while those behind would come up and assume the new lead spot.

D14.31 The MF/MP cost of an Impulse is equal to the most MF/MP spent by any unit during that Impulse, and all the units are considered to have spent this number of MF/MP during that Impulse (even if they didn’t perform an MF/ MP expenditure). This even allows a Non-Stopped vehicle to spend MP doing nothing if other units expend MP during that Impulse. No unit may expend MF/MP unless all units participating in that Impulse have enough remaining MF/MP, so all the participants must end their MPh if one of the units lacks necessary MF/MP.

14.331 BREAKING OFF:
When one or more units cease using Armored Assault, those units must postpone their MPh while the remaining units finish their MPh, before the postponed units finish theirs—or vice versa [EXC: platoon (or HW units) no longer using Armored Assault continue to move simultaneously until all units of their platoon (or Human Wave) have ceased using Armored Assault].

I don't see any reason why other units in the platoon cannot continue to move provided that they don't lose contact with the AFV that is using armoured assault.

Sure. The AFV directly tied to the Infantry (that AFV in D9.31) would spend Delay MPs as the other one or two AFVs continue to displace into new hexes.

Platoon Movement adjacency (and other D14.21) requirements would need to be maintained, of course. But the AFV(s) w/out tag-along Infantry could conceivsably move further than had they had initial tag-along Infantry.

Conceivsably, but I can also see that all members have some limitation too.
Certainly the AFVs can spend MPs to their maximum as they wish when armored assaulting as long as they don't enter hexes beyond what the infantry could have reached. But that latter point is not really dealt with in the examples quoted for the other vehicles in a platoon move. I would be curious to hear Perry's take on this one.
