Did we do this correctly?

PTO scenario with light jungle.

Two Japanese dummy units in a light jungle hex.

An armored Dozer overruns the two dummies. Normally, a Japanese infantry unit need not take a PAATC to remain concealed versus the overrun.

We played that the Japanese dummies need not take a PAATC also. Seemed like the logical conclusion, but not sure the rules support it.

Actually did not matter in the scenario as my dozer rolled low enough to strip the dummies on a 2+1.

Thanks,
Rich

Even though they use the same color on the counter, dummies are not Japanese and so they would have to take the PAATC. If you pass you would not have to say how many of the units are dummies and how many are real, and if you fail only the dummies are revealed (and eliminated) the real Japanese units would still be concealed.

No Japanese are subject to PAATC,
dummies are also Japanese - regard them as Scouts it helps in your logical conclusion.

"Dummies have no nationality". That could make a good slogan. :) I would lean towards this option, ie they need to pass a PAATC which would indeed betray their evanescent status.

I hope that the Jpn. dummies should not need to take a PAATC. Maybe a candidate for a Perry Sez clarification.

Jpn. dummies taking a PAATC obviously reveals that they are in fact dummies.

So, two situations,

One:
  1. Dozer enters hex with two Jpn ??.
  2. Dummies must take a PAATC.
  3. Dozer now knows they are dummies and moves on.
Two:
  1. Dozer enters hex with a concealed Jpn. unit.
  2. Unit does not take PAATC as it is Jpn.
  3. Dozer now knows they are not dummies and announces overrun.

?? are units per the index and A12.1 and 12.11. Option two is the best solution.
