Oh no !
So sad !
I have no words.

We could collect all the lore he wrote over here and try to make some document with it, in memoriam...

Very sad news.

I met Paul a couple of times in Dublin. As far as I know, Paul was solely a solo player / tinkerer, so I never played him, but I know that ASL, and particularly the community on GS, has been a huge part of his life.

He also very generously gifted some excess ASL material to another Irish player.

Very sad to hear. Always learned a ton from his posts. The ASL community seemed to be doing okay during this pandemic, but I guess there's also life in general to keep in mind - tomorrow is never guaranteed. Condolences to his family and those who knew him personally.

Very sad news is an understatement.
I will definitely miss the ASL design collaboration and the discussions we had.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Paul having passed away.

Never have I had the privilege to meet Paul in person and knew him only via this forum.

Over the years, I have grown to highly respect Paul for his always considerate kind ways, his patience, and respect . He impressed me and everyone with astonishing and profound knowledge that went into the most minuscule details. His posts showed that he was a logical thinker. I enjoyed his humor, especially when he went on to theorize - with reason - about some absurdities put before him. Where I fumble at being witty, it came natural to him.

Paul was a man of measure, attached to his beloved cats. Someone that I, that we, will miss and remember.

I deeply regret his passing and wish to express my sincere condolences to his relatives and his friends.

Ruhe in Frieden, Paul.
And may the Lord's light shine upon you.

I was amazed at his depth of knowledge on WWII armor.
He will definitely be missed here on this forum.

Very sad news.

Can you recall anyone ever getting crosswise with Paul? Me neither. All these years, all of us jerks, and Paul managed to be a gentle person who was so much appreciated by so many. That's a great lesson.

Donald J. Trump, though mostly it was the other way around....

I wonder if there isn't appetite for naming a sub-forum devoted to technical discussions in his honour? Or perhaps an annual Paul Weir prize to the ASL scenario designer whose work in a calendar year most often reveals a deep understanding of the technical capabilities of the vehicles and weapons (and requires same of those who play it).
