Situation:



There is a friendly AFV in bypass of the Z6/AA6 hexside facing towards AA7.
An enemy AFV sits in Y4 and fires on the friendly vehicle.


Question:

Does HD (Hull Down) apply due to the wall along the Z6/AA6 hexspine?

My hunch would be HD for question 1 and not HD for questions 2 & 3.
Because in the first case, LOF is along a Wall hexside whereas in cases 2&3 it does not cross a Wall hexside.

But I am looking for confirmation.

The First two bullets of B9.42 seem to confirm this explicitly.

I reckon B9.42 nails it. I was looking for HD references, but it is to be found under Vertex LOS.

My answers would be:
A. Shot from Y4 at AFV in bypass of the Z6/AA6 hexside facing towards AA7 --- not HD
B. Shot from Y4 at AFV in bypass of the Z6/Z5 hexside facing towards AA6 --- not HD
C. Shot from Z2 at AFV in bypass of the Z6/Z5 hexside facing towards AA6 --- is HD

Reasoning:
A. LOS doesn't completely traverse the hexside so the wall is not in play.
B. This one is easy.
C. LOS crosses the wall depiction as it enters the hex, so the "shot along the wall hexside" rule is not considered here.

Also, a slight variation on the 1st example -- if there was a shot from Y4 at AFV in bypass of the AA6/AA7 hexside facing towards Z6, I believe it would be HD because even though it has the same CAFP as the 1st example, in this case the AFV is in AA7 instead of Z6 and I believe that makes the difference.
