A Squad is destroyed in CCPh in close combat whilst both attacker and defender were at crest status in a shallow stream.

The squad was holding a LMG when it got eliminated.
The LMG wasn't destroyed by the CC so according to B20.95 it falls INTO the depression

Is the LMG destroyed cause it got soggy ?
Would it be destroyed if the stream was Deep or flooded ?

And for that matter ..... can you be at crest status in a flooded stream anyway?

I don't see any problem with an unpossessed SW in a stream in most situations. Think of it as being on the bank of the stream rather than in the wet part. Plus I have to think that most SW [EXC: radios] were fairly tolerant of water, in case their manning crew forgot to bring their umbrellas and a sudden squall swept through.

A flooded stream is treated as a water obstacle/pond and can't be entered, including at crest status.

B16.1 Marsh ... Any unpossessed portaged equipment in a marsh hex is eliminated.
So your idea of soggy ground is not unfounded.
EDIT: Bruce Probst provided the rule which states that this applies to Streams too.

A4.43 Unpossessed SW in a marsh, shallow or deep stream, and unpossessed SW/Gun in any Water Obstacle, Blaze Location (or burning vehicle), or building Location when rubbled are removed from play.

It is, of course, entirely unreasonable to hope or expect that B20 would make a cross-reference to this rule.

I stand corrected.
SW don't float in water.

Nor would they remain if the eliminated unit were in Crest Status as it is still the same location.

Last line of B20.95
Any unpossessed SW previously in Crest Status fall INTO the depression hex (The rules emphasis)
This is where my original question came from.
We missed A4.43 with late tired eyes that say a SW in Stream gets elim.
Cause alas It fell into the stream
