Hey!
Well... I'm still here and playing LotRO and have to say that the Quests in Rohan (including the Epic) may be the best the game has offered yet.
I've yet to be in any hurry to leave an area unexplored or "quested out."
The story lines (if you follow them) are filled with the danger & threats of Saruman throughout & Sauron (along the eastern borders).
From your first entry into Rohan (The Wold) and coming upon the settlement of Langhold under threat of immediate attack by Orcs the story of the plight of the people of Rohan just grows more intense and "fun."
I so enjoyed helping & saving the Rohhirim that I broke down & got a Pocket Item that stops you from gaining Experience so that I would not out level an area and miss out on any of the excitement of the quests.
The Epic Quests are "believable" (as far as they can go) and compelling to do and finish. There are a lot of surprises thrown in and of course the fun of meeting up with the important characters from the books.
Some of the quests overlap between areas due to the overall threats going on in Rohan and can take you out of an area or propel you along before you can finish up an area.
I had to go online more than once to pick up where I left off one quest story or find out which quests I had moved past in order to pick up the next story line in the area I wanted to adventure in. When I have finished up an area I've gone, "that's sad..." and reluctantly moved along down the road.
There are so many interesting quests to do (for me) that I have yet to make it to Helms Deep (although I could have had I just followed the Epic Quest line). But I want to "Fight my way" to that point by completing all the quests leading up to that epic battle.
That said: I'm still NOT a fan of Mounted Combat and have done as little of it as possible while finding out that that "little bit" is enough to get the required quests done.
My only advise for a player is to get anything that gives you "range combat" in Mounted Combat as trying to keep up with the enemy riders is crazy so I just normally ride in a tight circle just wear down the enemy as they ride BY me.
Thankfully the DEV's said there will only be a few Mounted Combat Quests in the next Update "Path's of the Dead."
Good Hunting to you!
