It started for me with my WWII vet Dad’s war stories of his battles in the North Africa, Ardennes and Rhineland campaigns, then watching the 60's TV show "Combat" with him, then playing Squad Leader nonstop from the day it released, and continues with Advanced Squad Leader (you never learn it; you just evolve with it).
