Red Barricades CG III...........Once more into the Breach!

Rockets did pretty much miss any larger infantry concentrations. The Pre-Reg hexes were pretty much in my backfield so if they drifted one way they would cause no harm which that one did. I believe these were number 3 & 4 for the Gerry Rockets. Maybe even more. His last Rocket did...

Red Barricades CG III...........Once more into the Breach!

Has anyone ever read a short story based on that scene on the cover of the 1st edition AD&D players handbook? That would be a good read. Perhaps Monkeys with Typewriters could go alternative on that. Scott's boxcars were not as bad as he laments. I was tagged for quite a few as well...

    Slaughter at Ponri

New topic maybe. Will the AT Trench / Ditch rules stay the same as in the rulebook or will there be some kind of SSR on them for this HASL? The rulebook as printed seems confused as it refers to AT Trenches as ditches or obstacles to hinder vehicle movement. Both a big hole and concrete...

Red Barricades CG III...........Once more into the Breach!

Howdy folks Scott and I did play and finish Oct 23rd (date 7) in sunny dry Stalingrad. Sunny means Scotty had the Stuka back up flying (got three of them) and dry; I kept on burning potential cover the Germans could use for cover in the south. Holst thought the fires went out after an idle...

    Riley's Road - ongoing game

Thank you for sharing and posting the pictures and commentary. The Killer Trench in the middle right near the Milk Factory. Good hard point. I really think the Germans have the advantage in this CG. More so in the end game I always thought. Do you think the Canadians entered too...

Nothing says ASL RB Stalingrad as well as a "1" SAN result plugging a German 9-2 leader right in the noggin.

Yeah, a little extra grist for the mill to potentially soak up a CH would have been smart. Can't accuse me of that when diagnosing my set-up for this day 4 battle.

Red Barricades CG III...........Once more into the Breach!

10-0 Der Commisars are almost immune to all forms of attacking firepower, especially in a Fortified Building. Almost all forms. The 80mm MTR critical hit is NOT one of those things he is immune to however.

Red Barricades CG III...........Once more into the Breach!

NEVER put a good squad in the same hex as a broken squad when 200mm bomb Stukas are flying. I knew better and did it anyways. One bomb hit rubbled 5 squads (two dudes in the basement), a HMG and the 9-2 leader. Truthfully when I drew that second red card (on my 2nd draw attempt) for the...

    CG III Red Barricades

Which side set up first and moved first in the Dual Attack for the 5th battle date ? From what I can recall I only played one night battle in all the RBs CGs I have played. Never have I seen a dual attack where after set up the random selection as to who goes first. I would imagine that...

    2017 St.Louis Tourney AAR

Congrats Rich indeed. I know you have had many silver and bronze medals from past tourneys so if this is the first gold then that is special. Litchfield. hmmmmm I recall that the terrific ChiliMan chili is made in Litchfield. If your gonna go with a can of chili, I would say...

VotG24 Raid on Radimtsev anybody play it?

The scenario seems very realistic as to how the front line "should' have looked as daybreak begins. The Germans have a "picket line" along the front line of 1st and 2nd line troops. The main assault troops for the morning are massed up just behind the front lines ready for their break...

    Who was your mentor(s)?

Without a doubt it was The Booker Matt Book. Damn good player and great guy. I meet him at Winter War in 2002 and then starting playing him back in Chicago. First player I played in the Chicago area other than my brother who quit the game in 2001. Ever go 0-28 against someone when you...

Red Barricades CGIII A New Campaign

Don't buy Engineers for Day 1 as the Germans. I wanted to try something different as we had just played this for 4 months so I wanted to "experiment" I knew it was a bad idea. After two red cards on the given 100mm OBA in the first turn I knew if I brought those engineers on board they...

    ASL Red Barricades CG III

What is Rees ? Scotty prefers CG-III over CG - I. To me 13 battle dates in CG - I is a bit more manageable than the 30 that CG- III presents. Victory conditions in CG-I require just the factories west of hexrow U north of the gully to be conquored by the Jerries. So in theory for...
