yes, please do.
under the past AREA I was able to figure accurately the win/loss of points before any playing. With GLICKO this does not happens. The only thing I notice is I jumped from about n° 50 in the world with AREA to much higher, and in any table one position ahead Mister T that appears odd

Suggest you read the paper attached to first post, it is only 6 pages and requires a little thought but not intractable

It is not the base. Most people do 1-2 events per year max.
In a given period though they do either 0 games or 5-+0 which fits model well. The ratings deviation decay fits well in terms of accuracy\stability of rating

I guess Matthias would be interested how he magically lost 60 places. :)

From the Glicko note:

"Because a player in the Glicko system has both a rating and a RD, it is usually more informative to summarize a player's strength in the form of an interval (rather than merely report a rating)."

Essentially Glicko returns two values (rating and RD) and, for fairness and ease of use, it would be necessary to merge these two values into a single indicator to compute a true ranking. I would suggest using the lowest value of a 95% confidence band, which could be the guaranteed strength of a given player.

The problem with AREA was that players frequently attending tournaments were penalized. If the RD is not included into the overall indicator, the benefits of Glicko are not fully reaped, me thinks.

You must suck because apparently, he is not that good having won Albany, ASLOk, Bitter Ender, and I believe Winter Offensive in a 12 month span. -- jim
Looks like I’m only 38-5 in tournament play since I won ASLOK in 2017, probably doesn’t get me in the top 500. ?

Are AREA games just what was entered on prior system? Or were the game results Nitro was sitting on, i.e. received but entered, included here?

Five losses? No wonder. -- jim

"Bill Cirillo" "2019-04-30" "Tournament" "1876.0" "335" "78"
The last games in AREa fro Bill are from ASLOK 2010! which means the Rating Deviation has become very high.
Bill Results over last 8 years would easily oput him in top 5.

This empsizes how important getting more good data in is!

uhm, that isn't correct :)
I have 152 games for an 1864 rating with area rating
http://www.asl-area.org/Parcours/SSB.html

Perhaps a name issue ?
Could be the same with Paul Sidhu and others. Perhaps an open record of games (like Area) will enable players to review their own results ...
Once the web interface is up this is easy for now I will email a spreadsheet to anyone who ask and sends me a pm with thier email

Aaron,

First off, I would just like to say thank you for the tremendous amount of time and effort that you have put into creating this wonderful updated rating capability. I’m envious of the skills you have!

Relative to my case of no recorded AREA inputs since 2010, I just checked the old AREA sight and saw and additional 37 tournament entries, mostly for Bitter Ender, ASLOK, and Albany.

Are you not seeing these entries?

Additionally, I have all of my games recorded for ASLOK, Winter Offensive, Albany, and Bitter Ender for the last two years (all except one victory over Stan Jackson from last year’s Bitter Ender where I don’t have the scenario name). Will you accept these entries direct from me?

Thanks again!

Bill
