Just saw the finally released Hey Jude album while shopping for car cleaning stuff. Had to get it, and still like it as well as when I first heard it all those many years ago.
Some GREAT songs, but not one of my favorite "albums". It's just a collection of a few singles and b-sides created for the American market, and not a good mix in my opinion..."Can't Buy Me Love" and "I Should've Known Better" seem really out of place on the same album side as "Revolution". After the
Rarities LP was released, I never had a reason to play the
Hey Jude LP ever again. For the digital age, the
Past Masters CDs provided the same songs in a more logical and tasteful order.
But hey, if you like these songs in this order, that's cool. Two thumbs up for buying ANY of the Beatles' great music!
Another interesting thing about the HJ album is that the tape versions led off with Side 2, as it was the longest.
