Vlad's War
What you are about to read has been compiled from those who were there and is clearly a one-sided view of the actions that took place on the evening of April 15, 2011. Those who have contributed to this account insist that every word...is true......
Captain Vladimir Overkillininov received his orders to patrol the Black Sea and to be aware of Ukrainian and Romanian patrols in the region. Nato vessels were supposedly in the area. His orders were clear: DO NOT FIRE UNLESS FIRED UPON and under no circumstances was he to engage Nato as Russian political officials did not want a tussle with them.
Vlad was known for his aggressive and brash style. He also envied the Soviet sailors and Naval Officers of the Cold War. He was angered by Nato's position and their arrogance and aggression in what amounted to in Vlad's mind as "Police" actions all over the globe. And here, in the Black Sea, they had stuck their noses in where they did not belong once more.
Vlad made up his mind. His objective was to send every Nato vessel to the bottom of the Black Sea, and any Ukrainian and Romanian that stood in his way would be dealt with severely. He would make his predecessors very proud with this courageous action against Western Imperialism.
His forces were spread out over many miles. He ordered one ship to the east where there were numerous contacts. She kept her speed down as the contacts began to approach. Roughly an hour later, two Nato Vessels and a Ukraine controlled Krivak II were in range. Without hesitation, she opened fire on all three of them. Pumping as many shells, missiles and torps into them as she could, and taking return fire all the while, she turned south, leaving three enemy vessels as burning hulks. Another vessel, presumed to be Nato had turned east and was making a run for it. Vlad's ship pumped a few salvos of shells into her but continued south, looking for more enemies. Another ship that appeared to be Nato was to the south west and stopped dead in the water...or was she? Suddenly the enemy ship let loose a volley of vampires and the Russian fired her guns. Both she and the enemy went down during this exchange.
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian Krivak III had been harassing and ultimately killed another Russian controlled boat that was not under Vlad's command.
Vlad had three more ships, one he was hiding amongst Romanian vessels, keeping her speed down near and behind the task force. Two other ships, armed with beautiful Soviet designed long range anti-ship missiles were far to the east, keeping their speed down as well, attempting to look like merchants or anything besides war ships.
Another Nato vessel that presumably participated in the sinking of one of the Russian ships, was still fleeing from the battle, but she was running right into the Romanian Task Force. The Nato skipper opened up on the Romanians and they returned fire. The Nato ship was out of range of the Russian boat hiding amongst the Romanians, so her crew just tracked her as she was definitely in range of the missile boats far to the east.
When the Nato vessel was far enough away from the Russian ship, she switched on her radar and ECM to light up the Nato boat for the Russian Missile Boats. Without hesitation Vlad launched a salvo of missiles. Unfortunately, their flight paths took them over the Romanians who shot down a few of them on their way to their intended target. It appeared that the Nato ship had successfully defended herself with her CIWS. Vlad cursed, and ordered another launch, this time yelling "FIRE EVERYTHING!"
The Romanians, thinking they'd been fired upon, were now hostile and again shot down some of the missiles on their way to their intended target. This time, it appeared to Vlad that the Nato vessel had successfully defended herself again, until the Nato commander exclaimed over the comms and asked why everyone was shooting at him. A short time later, the contact was deemed a probable kill and Vlad was satisfied. Ordering his three ships back on task of moving into the patrol area. A short while later, they arrived in the patrol zone, but not in time as the Ukrainians had been on station long enough to claim the area for themselves. However, in Vlad's mind, he was a hero and would go down in Russian history as a valiant skipper that played a large role in the destruction of Nato forces in the Black Sea on the evening of April 15, 2011 where no Nato vessel survived the encounter. :bite::devious::laugh:
