As some of you know I have undertaken to expand upon the Europe Aflame universe of Mark and Ulver by making a 1942 version of this european theatre scenario.

I have no doubt this will take a lot of effort to get done properly but the first thing I need to do is A) find out where the front lines were in May of 1942 B) figure out the placement of corps sized units throughout the European theatre for that month.

Can anyone point me to good resources (internet or real books) for this general type of information? Right now B is the more difficult since I do have some books which show the front lines, but it doesn't give very good unit info.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I suggest using West Point's map archive. It doesn't go all the way down to Corps in every case but it's good:

Russia:

Africa:

Really, just to get Corps deployments, it would be a good idea to look at other people's scenarios. Generally I would recommend against using existing scenarios as sources, but even the worst designers would be quite hard pressed to get information wrong at corps level.

As I understand it, EA OOB's are pretty abstracted anyway. There's a wealth of information out there, just get looking.

Thanks Ben that's good advice. I already looked a couple scenarios for general corps information but I want to get some original sources so I am the only one to blame when I have wrong placements or other issues. :D

I appreciate the links...looks like some great info there!

With a lot of pacience you can collate something from these 3 sites:

http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/inhaltsverzeichnis1.htm
http://www.skalman.nu/third-reich/

for the germans. For the allies try:

http://books.stonebooks.com/armies/ob.html
And Liddell Hart's World War 2

US forces at http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/

For the Russians, try to ask Pavel at TDG.

For Italians the 3 Osprey books
