View Full Version : Installation
I have the TOAW 1 plain edition, not GoTY nor CoW. I installed it on Windows XP, and it seemed to be Ok. I tried to run it, and I was told it doesn't run on NT. No problem, I set the compatiblity of the shortcut, and it didn't run at all, just produced an error that was promptly sent to Microsoft. So, I got the latest patches from here, and I tried to install the 1.07 patch, but I'm told "Old file does not exist." Does anybody have any idea of what I should now?
I'm thinking that perhaps the 1.07 patch is not cumulative, and so it is expecting something else. I am unable to find earlier patches, however. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Buy CoW, be done with your problems, and be able to play along with the rest of us. Most pbem games and virtually all new scenario design is being done on CoW, and it runs good under XP.

Belisama, Jam is right. See the TOAW 1 game as a cheap entrance fee. The additional forty bucks ACOW will cost you will be the worst investment you've ever made. It is THE wargame and you'll burn so much time and neglect other social activities you will damn the day you got it. Lovely. ;)

Sad but true, I just completed a 2 hour turn of Braunschweig as the Russian, and after this short break here I'll hit Braun again as the Axis, hopfully finishing before mandatory rest.
My wife just brings my dinner to my desk-on second thought this isn't really all that bad. :hush:

LOL. We passed that point about a year ago; I just kept my eye on the prize, and I won. :surprise: She just saw that post and laughed and admitted that if that is my only vice she considers herself a luky woman. I could be sitting in a sports bar every night, or walking around a park with holes all over hitting a ball with a crooked stick and finding it again so I could hit it again whilst paying 200.00 a day for that entertainment. TOAW is far more entertaining and cheaper than its alternatives. I will continue to get my dinner served at my desk (other than special occasions of course). :)
