How many replacement points do we get?

Also, dear fellow commanders, in your opinion what should we get? I am really for a Mi-26 giant transport helicopter, it would enhance our strategic mobility enermously. Just imagine, transporting an M60 and some infantry force to the other corner of the island, far away from any supposed enemy forces.

DD, what rules should apply such strategic transport? In week a helicopter can fly a lot, so we can redeploy a whole company, for instance. My proposal is that every day the chopper can carry a full load to anywhere, but if he does so, he cannot participate in combat. If it is used in actual combat, then it cannot transport. Is this OK?

OK, based on both the Pro-Government and Rebel Replacement Point totals, the UN will recieve 150 points this turn. Remember, you are restricted in what you can get so please post your requests for OP Turn 5.

Then I would go for the Mi-26, if strategic air mobility is possible (what rules?)
Ig
If not, I will post other requests.

Then we do not buy anything, we keep our points for the next round.

(We are asking the UN SC to ask member states to put together an amphibious force, capable of landing marine infantry on the shore of the island at our request. Ship arty support would be welcome for them!)

Dear Fellow Commanders,

Now, the situation begs for the question. What to buy, and what to do next round? We have a lot of options now, I think, and we can accomplish almost anything.

The first part of our strategy was implemented and tested, we have our troops concentrated, and it works quite well. Now we have to figure out what to do with them.

Therefore I would like to ask ALL of you (even reservists like Arthur) to contribute with you ideas.

Lt. Gen Toth:

It seems to me that the time has come to begin retaking the city in area G, using most of the mobile force to do so, leaving a small force (UN rifle company-)to hold N and our line of communications.

The airpower gives us a real advantage, but we can expect the Rebels to try to field some additional anti-air capability as soon as possible. By recapturing G we will cut down their reinforcement rate.

It would be helpful if the government forces could join us in defeating the Rebels in G, but if we must do it alone, we must. This is not a mission to rush and take large casualties, but we should move slowly, bringing our superior firepower and mobility to each battle and attempting to attrit the rebel forces, while liberating G.

I would leave A until later or until we develop a meaningful amphibious/airmobile capability and can attack it from the sea.

As far as I know, there is a serious battle going on in G. Should we take part, or just wait? I dont want to be seen as aiding openly the government.

In the real world I suppose the UN would "demand" that both parties withdraw, leaving the UN to hold the city. Maybe in this game we can do something similar, by demanding a withdrawal and letting our troops enter Zone G, but not necessary attack or fight, unless attacked. That way, if they don't withdraw, we can let them fight it out one more opturn before getting involved, if they do withdraw, our troops are already in Zone to enter the city. However, maybe our airpower could try to pick off some armor--since our ground troops would be in Zone?

Just some thoughts.

Congrats to your decisive victory. I second your ideas concerning employin v-hexes to destroy enemy troops.

Well, as I said I am for additionall heavy mech troops as they seem to be nearly invulnerable if used cleverly.

I think TF's idea of demanding retreat and then entering G is quite good.

Maybe we can get a ambhibious unit to attack A or J to get the rebels of balance if they try to reinforce G...

just my two cents...

I would wait one more turn, they are killing each other nicely, I am still not comfortable of the idea of low-tech infantry masses swarming in forested land - our mech army is superior, but its better to avoid fighting with too much enemy. We will just skirt the town, causing as much casualties to Rebels as we can without taking side with the Government.

Probably yes, since he could answer to what I posted.

Any info on what is going on in the town and east of it? It must be quite a massacre at both places. Can we get updated by DD or do we have to wait by the end of the turn? (Which turn they are at?)

Although I couldn't vouch for the accuracy of anything either side might tell you :D

Once the Campaign has ended and I "OPEN" the Secure area forums I think this will all make for some good reading. Many of the AAR's are very detailed and really allow you to follow the progress of the battles.
