Ok this is for a friend, I am asking for input I might funnel his way (honest :) ).

Aside from the manual, which I know does a lot says a lot and in the end really says little of use :) Anyone got any suiggestions for what a noob might be told to read to learn the fine art of operational combat as it is conducted with our game here?

This can be books of a sort that have illustrative value or links to sites where the person has personally crafted support materials you have found helpful.

My friend is in the UK, so if it involves a purchase, keep that factor in mind.

Oh, and here is where you can suggest any mods or whatever you personally think are must haves for the learning gamer.

On War, perhaps? Probably more immediately applicable to the Age of Rifles, but helpful nonetheless (if you mentally exclude parts that don't apply to modern armed forces, particularly).

Yeah I'd thought I'd post here to as these guys seem to no more about this kind of thing than those over at Matrix.

I've printed of the articles here and have had a read.

Wow that TOAW COW is some game and a damn big game to boot.

The very sad thing is with a wife intow and a 3year old it looks like I will be about 65 by the time Ive had enough time to learn it. Im sure it will not work on my PC by then (32 years time).

God how do you think you are going to be able to fight real battles when you can't even win the easy ones? !

Ok dealing with the wife in one easy process.

Step one wake up
Step two wake wife.

Best done at like a real early hour, so if you are gaming on the weekend, make it at least 1 hour before she actually wants to wake.

Wake horny and wake aroused. Wake her and make it clear you want to get it on. Insist she wears something very sexy, try to pick something that's is not easy to find. Hide that baby doll you like so it's not easy for her to locate. Make a fuss on how you were looking forward to seeing her in it.

When she is ready, then insist on her doing everything you can think of that's erotic and amusing. Get her to pose a lot, make a real erotic show of her charms. Really insist you really enjoy her putting on a show.

15 minutes of that should do guys. Then let her know you want her sexy self kneeling in front of you all submissive like, and then give her a taste of the good life, well your idea of the good life eh guys.

Enjoy that for a while. Then tell her to lie down and give her a complete work over on her goods fair play and all eh guys. Make her climax, no reason she has to be second eh, besides it really tires them out.

Then proceed to close the deal. Get down to some serious shagging. Really go at it guys. Pour it on to her. make her really go the distance.

If done right, she will likely be plenty glad of the rest, and plenty happy to leave you alone for the whole day.

And even if she doesn't, does it really matter if she interrupts the game :) You already won the only game worth winning heheh.

Well said! There's about a million wargame analogies I could make, but I'll spare you guys the pain...

As far as learning the game of CoW? Easy! Play a couple PBEMs with the vets; most are more than happy to help you along all the way through! It makes the learning curve a little easier to deal with.

sorry, just wanna give my wife a new experience.
She is from China, where I was for 3 years, and they don't get out much!!!lol
