The first mini-battle scenario in the Europe-88 project has been
successfully completed. After-action reports from the players as well as an
evaluation report by the umpire staff are now available at the Europe-88
Project site (http://www.harpoonhq.com/Europe88/) and at the Harpooner's
Point forums (http://www.harpoonhq.com/phpBB2/)
"Main Battle 1: Highway to Frankfurt" pits a crack Soviet Guards Tank
Regiment against an elite US Armored Cavalry Squadron (together with
supporting air forces) at the heart of Germany in 1988 - and lets the
carnage begin!!! Gamed-out using cream-of-crop wargaming products (inluding
Harpoon 3), Main Battle 1 is the first installment in a series of battles
demonstrating the mechanics of the Europe-88 project, one of the most
massive and ambitious wargaming projects in existence.
"Highway to Frankfurt" is soon to be followed by "Main Battle 2: Hamburg
Corridor", a massive corps/army-level clash in northern Germany involving
entire army formations, entire air force wings (including fighter, bomber,
electronic warfare and reconnaisance wings), carrier operations, special
forces, satellites, logistics, psy-ops and much more!
Tired of simplified air and naval ops in TOAW? Frustrated with non-existent
ground ops in Harpoon? Fed up with wargames and combat simulations focusing
on one narrow aspect of war-waging while abstracting or outright ignoring
everything else? Come on and see what "total war" really means!
Discuss this and coming battles in the Harpooner's Point forums, the meeting
point of the computer Harpoon community: http://www.harpoonhq.com/phpBB2/
Cheers,
