Hi,
I have had BCT for a while but only recently had the time to sit down and get started with it. However I see that ATF seems to be a 'souped up' version of BCT?

I really go for realism and accuracy in games so what i'm really asking is? Am I missing out on lots of cool stuff by not having ATF?

Any advice/comments would appreciated!

Pete

The best upgrade in my opinion is the abillity to move entire companies with one icon. This cuts back on the clicking. The other really new feature is the ability to give missions to formations, you can specify route, release point, loss tolerance etc. It is a good game if you like BCT. I would suggest downloading the demo at shrapnel. It will introduce you to the new look and new features. :D

Actually, ATF can't merely be regarded as an "upgrade" to BCT. BCT and ATF model the fight at different echelons. BCT models a brigade with platoon resolution, while ATF models a battalion with individual vehicle and team resolution. So, while the pedigree is certainly clear, ATF shouldn't be regarded as a simple "upgrade" for BCT as such.

However, the distinction is muddied by the fact that ProSim seems to have terminated development on BCT, while ATF continues in active development. It is difficult to regard BCT as anything but a "legacy" game with no future in that light. Not that legacy games can't be fun. I still enjoy X-Com on occasion, for example. But you can't expect anything new from the game.

KC,

You can avoid overseas shipping charges by buying from Strategy Plus in the UK:
