View Full Version : Supply Problem

I was wondering if anyone has come across this before, and if so, what causes it.

I'm playing against Raver at the moment, testing that 'American Front' scenario I've developed (25 km/hex). I've sent a corps from Virginia across to that peninsula where Delaware, Maryland and Virginia meet (forget the name of it). Anyway, there's a supply point to the south, with an intact rail line all the way north to where the combat units are; all hexes (bar two super river ones not on the road/rail line) are mine. Yet there's no supply available at all along it. The supply point shows 50 for supply, but 1 hex past that is nothing; no brown supply markers, no red ones, and none of mine. As a result, my infantry divisions 200km to the north are glowing red from no supply, despite the rail line I've rebuilt directly to them.

Any idea why this might have happened? Is it a bug in the programme, or a flaw in the scenario design?

Is there any water surrounding the area? Can you post a screenshot?

thanks-

the supply point needs to sit on top of the rail line to function as intended, if for example the supplies are carried from the supply point via road to the beginning of the rail line than TOAW won't recognize the rail and the supply will dry out not too far away from the supply point.

Sorry, I should have realised I had this screenshot available.

It's from an earlier turn in the game. It doesn't show the supply values, but should suffice. The rail line from the fortress at the bottom is now repaired, up to where the HQ unit sits. The infantry divisions are dug in to the top left of the screen, where the brown line is; there's a road beneath them. Supply is 50 where the fort is (the supply point; 50 is full supply). But there is no supply of any form from the hex above it, all the way up to the top of the screenshot.

I'm a bit stumped by this. I can't remember if there are any US naval units next to the fort, but I don't think there is. A battleship squadron is at the top of the map (2 hexes above where it says DELAWARE), but that's it.

Ideas anyone?

Is that naval unit that is sitting next to the peninsula an enemy, or friendly, unit? If it is an enemy unit, then its unnegated zone of control over the hex immediately to the north of the fort (supply point) would prevent supply from being traced through that hex.

If it's a friendly unit, then at this stage I'm stumped.

The one in the attachment is friendly, but, in the current stage of the game, Raver (damn his eyes) may have placed a naval unit off the coast, for that very reason.

OK, thanks for that, I think I understand where the problem is. I didn't realise that a naval unit's ZOC extended inland, or that it would cut off supply from a supply source. You learn something new everyday.......

In the water, the ZOC is not visible like it is on land... It's quite possible that if there is an enemy fleet right next to the land hex, your supply could be cut off...

SINK THOSE SHIPS!
