View Full Version : Supply by sea?
Have a look at this screenshot from a game vs Viridomaros. i have completely surrrounded his forces at odessa, the river hex in the east is now occupied by that inf unit amongst others. will the forces be supplied by sea due to the fact that odessa is a port?
Depends on whether the scenario designer put a supply point in the hex.

in other scenarios, I have seen hexes being in supply, low supply, but in supply when next to the water, as long as that force controls the sea, with units or transport points.
African campaign, allied side, if you land troops behind his forces, the units are in supply because the allies control the water. Could be a coincidence though.
I'm sure a little bit of supply could trickle in.
My guess is that if units behind enemy lines without a tracable supply line (and remember, units can trace supply over the entire map as long as no enemy ZOC interrupts it!) are still in supply it's because of air transport capacity. Than TOAW will give any hex a default supply amount, but I've never seen supplies traced over the ocean, but I think I never really checked for this possibility either :)
from the manual:
Airborne Re-supply
If a unit can not trace a line of communication back to a friendly supply source, it may still be able to receive re-supply. The level of re-supply available to any particular is based on the amount of air transport capacity left unused at the end of the previous turn and the total size of the units requiring airborne re-supply. Local airborne re-supply levels are reduced by 33% if visibility in the location is hazy, or 50% if the visibility in the location is overcast.
