Ever wanted to play a scenario about a virtually unknown battle in a virtually unknown war? This is your opportunity! The battle of Yang Dang Khum pits the Royal Thai Army against the French Indochina Army, January 16th, 1941. The Thais were conducting a minor invasion of Cambodia and Laos in order to reclaim lands lost to the French over the past fifty years. The French Indochina Army , consisting of four (five?) divisions for the entire Indochina area, was already severely overstretched, having to deal with a popular rebellion in Cochin, several minor revolts elsewhere, and "facing off" against the Japanese in Tonkin, where they had forced the French to allow passage of Japanese troops to better fight the war in China. The French were only able to commit fourteen battalions to cover their entire western frontier.
The scenario, unfortunately, is for TOAW I, as I do not own a copy of ACOW. Feel free to email me if you're interested! It's fourteen turns long (the turns are half-day but represent single hours; the map scale is adjusted accordingly), at a company scale. Not too many units to deal with; a turn shouldn't take more than five or ten minutes to play. The French should definitely be played by the stronger player; they were historically defeated and have managed a draw at best in computer-computer play.
The scenario is attached; feel free to take a look at it. I've made an error in the Thai PO formation objectives - they are in essence ignoring the two map-edge road objectives. This will not affect human vs. human play, but a clever player could exploit this against the computer to gain some uncontested victory points (enough for a significant French victory, if my calculations are not wrong).
