G'day lads,

I'm asking for some help playtesting the World War One scenario I've just finished. It's set in North America, and is based on the 'Great War' series of novels by Harry Turtledove. In short, the Confederacy wins independance from the United States in 1862. Another war over the Confederate purchase of the Mexican states of Sonora and Chihuahua in 1882 sees the US beaten again, this time with British and French help. The US allies itself with Imperial Germany and Austria-Hungary, which means that in 1914, as the lights go out across Europe, they also go out across America.

The scenario opens in the first week of August 1914, as the US, CSA, Canada and Mexico mobilise. The fronts stretch from Virginia to California, and from New Brunswick to BC. The Canadians have British and Russian reinforcements, while the Mexicans are standing by to help the CSA. The scenario stats are;

USA versus Entente (Confederacy, Canada, Mexico, Britain, Russia, France)
25km hexes (map is about 220x150)
Division/Brigade/Regiment sized units
231 week-long turns
Approx 1200 units a side
491 events.

The game is not quite as big as it looks, with a lot of units event and turn dependant. The events are used to simulate an economic dimension to the war (lose an industrial city and you lose replacements and maybe supply) as well as the war in Europe. A game turn will take about 40 minutes, for the first 10 or so turns, dropping to about 25 minutes for subsequent turns. Replacement rates are quite low, so units become brittle pretty quickly; your divisions will be like gold to you. The front is too big for the armies involved, so you will need to work out what areas are important to you, and what can be conceded.

If anyone would like to hook in, can you e-mail me at 'woodleyt@maf.govt.nz'. I'll send the game notes and scenario to you, and match you up with a player. This has been a labour of love for nearly two years now, and I want to make sure that the final version of the scenario is a good one. Your help will be appreciated by me, and by those gamers who will hopefully get to play a well-polished scenario.

Cheers fellas.

Ooooh! Pick me! Pick me! Oh hang on you already did.

BTW for anyone contemplating this, the scenario looks pretty darn interesting from what I've seen so far.
