things were getting stalemated on other fronts. Am being held up at Stockholm and just captured Bergen. Supply getting very low at Bergen (7). Took it by coup de main. Sent armoured units around bergen to cut rail line south. That put bergen out of supply. Axis volunteerily withdraw defenders.
Have just sent engineer over super river into Bessarabia. got surprise of life when found that opposite bank was even more lightly defended than Russian side. Only defence was solitary HQ unit. Three Russian infantry corps steam rollered that unit and following turn the armoured units poured over bridgehead. The defenders of permament bridge to north were attacked including by an armoured unit putting in attack from rear. they quickly retreated leaving Russia with control of permament bridge too. Some axis units were pulled back out of line from further north. Axis units being pulled out of france. Looks like serious breach of axis line. Don't really have the free reserves to exploit much further. But axis side will have to find forces to seal this breach off as Ploesti and Bucharest make tempting targets. I expect some general withdrawals from Middle east theatre.
Only wish the US were in better shape to land in France. I expect in another 15 turns that the US will be able to make serious moves into france beach head.
For time being the axis side is way off balance and will need a Manstein fire brigade to stabilise front.
