View Full Version : RT Scrolling Help
In the Misc/Utilities file section, I've added a mod that should help players get smoother scrolling when playing the Raging Tiger demo. It is intended mainly for those who use Contour Map with NATO icons. I'll do the same thing for the full game when I get it.

Interesting, because I have smooth scrolling. What kind of "mod" are you talking about? All you have to do is ensure that hardware accelleration on your video card is turned OFF, and that you are at the correct color bit depth.
"Mod" is too grandiose, but I couldn't think of anything else. I've taken 21 files that represent the maps and the various play aids (NATO icons, hierarchy flags, etc.) and reduced their bit depth to 4. Even after turning off acceleration, I still had a bit of chop scrolling around the icons- this has helped make things much smoother for me. This is a problem with most games that use large bitmap files (or large numbers of smaller files, apparently)- I did a map conversion recently for another game that was giving people fits because of the size of the original file.

If you have done that, then you MUST warn people about the possibility of ugly graphics!;) :D
I did do it, I have warned them, and the only graphics affected are the colour maps, and they only slightly. The rest of the graphics look fine.
I get the feeling I've worn out my welcome- best be moving on...

Hub,
Don't go anywhere. Thanks for keeping us honest ;)
I get the feeling I've worn out my welcome- best be moving on...
Not to worry, Hub... you have a long way to go before I'm in danger of losing my title of "Lead Gadfly"... :nofear:
Although, like me, you may become the source of occasional exasperation, I think your imput will remain welcome so long as your focus is sincerely on improving the game.
BTW, I've been dying to ask... is that a 105 round in your arms, or are you just glad to see us? :D

My only concern here is to help make an already good game better, in whatever small way I can.
I get frustrated sometimes, as I have trouble expressing myself with words (especially if I can't use expletives).
105mm? (sigh) Sadly, sounds about right...
